Keeseekoose First Nation November 16th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, I said it before and I will say it again--

Keeseekoose First Nation November 16th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, whether the Conservatives like it or not, first nations governments take matters of accountability very seriously. That is exactly what we have seen in this case. Where irregularities were found, the police were informed and charges were laid. What we see from the other side shows once again that these Conservatives will do anything to discredit first nations, their leadership and their members.

Keeseekoose First Nation November 15th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, this first nation did the appropriate thing when financial irregularities were found. It called the RCMP, an investigation was conducted and charges were laid. This is now before the courts.

Keeseekoose First Nation November 15th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, as I have said many times, the first nation reported this to the RCMP, which investigated. Charges have been laid. It is before the courts.

Keeseekoose First Nation November 15th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, as I said yesterday, the hon. member's behaviour in this is shameful.

The RCMP was called in and took the appropriate action. Charges were laid. It is now before the courts.

Shame on those members.

Keeseekoose First Nation November 15th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, first nations governments take accountability very seriously.

My department has advised me that this first nation identified financial irregularities in 2002 and 2003. The first nation acted appropriately. It called in the RCMP. Charges were laid. The matter is now before the courts.

Aboriginal Affairs November 14th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, the new low is across on the other side. That is a ridiculous and scandalous thing to say.

Aboriginal Affairs November 14th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, that allegation is absolutely ridiculous.

Aboriginal Affairs November 14th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, audits are conducted routinely. If those audits find things that should go to the RCMP or other agencies, that is exactly what happens.

Aboriginal Affairs November 3rd, 2005

Mr. Speaker, our five point action plan will address housing, education, water, health and social services. It was developed with the community and its leadership.

We have addressed the water situation. We have additional health care workers.

A barge with building materials to renovate 35 homes will arrive in the community next week, with more to follow. We will build 50 new homes this year and each year for the next 10 years.

We said we would fix Kashechewan together and we will.
