Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present the 65th report of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs regarding the committee's mandate under Standing Order 108(3)(a) in relation to the provision of services and facilities to members.

I would like to thank the members of the subcommittee, particularly the member for Bellechasse who, in my view and in the view of the committee, has done an exceptionally good job in preparing the report for the committee. I thank him for his good work.

Madam Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 36(8), I have the honour to table, in both official languages, the government's response to 26 petitions.

[Information Commissioner, April 21st, 1997]

Mr. Speaker, I believe you would find unanimous consent for the following motion. I move:

That, in accordance with subsection 54(3) of the act to extend the present laws of Canada that provide access to information under the control of the Government of Canada, Chapter A-1, of the Revised Statutes of Canada 1985, this House approve the reappointment of John Grace as Information Commissioner, to hold office until December 31, 1997.

Mr. Speaker, I have another motion to move, if the House is so predisposed:

That on Friday, April 25, 1997, until members return from a ceremony granting the royal assent to a bill or bills, the House shall not adjourn for any reason except pursuant to a motion by a minister of the crown provided that, if no such ceremony has occurred by the ordinary time of adjournment, the sitting shall be suspended to the call of the Chair which may come for the sole purpose of attending such a ceremony, after which the House shall be adjourned to the next sitting day.

Mr. Speaker, I rise on a couple of brief points of order. If there is unanimous consent, I would dispose of these matters now. I move:

That, no later than fifteen minutes before the expiry of the time allotted for the consideration of Government Orders on April 22, 1997, all questions shall be put without further debate or amendment as are required at that time for the disposal of the third reading stage of Bill C-93, the report stages and third reading stages of Bills C-37, C-39 and C-40 and the second reading stage of Bill C-75.

Madam Speaker, I understand there is unanimous agreement that the third reading stage of Bill C-92 may be considered as soon as the second reading stage is completed.

[Business Of The House, April 17th, 1997]

Madam Speaker, I am looking for some guidance from the Chair. I believe you would find unanimous consent that notwithstanding the second reading vote that was taken on Bill C-95, that Bill C-95 be put back on the Order Paper for a resumption of second reading. I believe you called for the question, no one rose and the question was put and carried.
