Pertaining to the sale of land by the National Capital Commission: ( a ) for what purpose and according to what process did the National Capital Commission determine that the sale of land to the Vorlage Ski Club, between September 2, 1992 and September 2, 2002, was necessary; ( b ) on what date, or dates, in parcels of how many hectares/acres, and for what price per parcel, did the National Capital Commission sell this land to the Vorlage Ski Club; ( c ) did the National Capital Commission subject this sale to a public consultation; If not, why not; and ( d ) did the National Capital Commission inform the public about this sale; If so, on what date and by what means; If not, why not?

Lynda Lemay and Natasha St-Pier February 17th, 2003

Mr. Speaker, two Canadian women have brought honour to Canada by being awarded Victoires for musical excellence in France.

Lynda Lemay was selected top female artist of the year, while Natasha St-Pier was awarded the only prize voted on by the public, for best new artist. These two talented singers richly deserve this recognition of their hard work.

My colleagues join with me in congratulating not only Quebec's Lynda Lemay but also, and equally warmly, New Brunswick's Natasha St-Pier. Well done.

Mr. Speaker, what the member has mentioned here is completely false. The department is doing all it can on this issue. There is no cover-up whatsoever in this. It is just in preparation by the department's officials and we will be in a position to answer all those questions.

Mr. Speaker, there is absolutely no cover-up in this file. The department is proceeding as usual with its obligations. There is no problem whatsoever. I believe that the member is completely adding more confusion to the problem.

Éduco-Pop des Bois-Francs in Victoriaville December 9th, 2002

Mr. Speaker, Éduco-Pop des Bois-Francs in Victoriaville will be receiving financial assistance between October 21, 2002 and March 2003 for its project Stratégie 2003.

In conjunction with the Commission scolaire des Chênes and two other school boards, this organization is working to improve the availability of literacy services in the central Quebec region.

Their intended approach is to develop an action plan in order to design communication tools and get all stakeholders in the region involved.

I wish them all the best in their undertaking.

With regard to properties within the Gatineau Park: ( a ) how many have been declared surplus and are presently for sale; ( b ) what are the size and location of those properties; ( c ) by what process and according to what criteria were these properties declared surplus; ( d ) how many properties within the park and on its periphery have been declared surplus over the last ten years and accordingly placed on the market for sale; ( e ) does the National Capital Commission plan to dispose of additional properties within the park over the next ten years; ( f ) what are the size and location of those properties; ( g ) what was the total number of acres belonging to individuals within the Gatineau Park on September 1992; ( h ) what was the total number of acres belonging to individuals within the Gatineau Park on September 2002; and ( i ) how many individuals own land within the Gatineau Park, what are their names, and the size of their property or properties?

Mr. Speaker, the hon. member will have an opportunity to express her concerns during a debate in the House. I am sure she will be very pleased with the way her concerns on this will be addressed by the debate.

Mr. Speaker, I believe that the minister has stated in this House that this matter will be debated and also, and above all, that no decision has yet been reached by the government.

A debate is a good thing for democracy and I am sure there will be one here in the House.

Mr. Speaker, once again I believe that the member is erring. It is very clear that there is judicial process in this. It will be debated and I am sure that the member will get all the answers concerning this issue.
