Health committee  Boudreau, I want to reassure you that just because I'm looking in your direction, I'm not directing my ire at you. That's not the point here. I'm directing comments only in your direction. I don't mean to make you feel that way. I direct my ire at the folks who created this ridiculous clause inside a bill to suggest—as I stated earlier, we're talking about patient safety—that a prescriber doesn't have the appropriate abilities to understand patient safety associated with drug X, Y or Z or the ability to appropriately understand the potential drug interactions and monitor potential side effects as required.

Business of Supply  I think we have a real problem with rage farming. Some of the examples I have raised tonight are specifically useful because they raise ire and quick reaction and can be used to change public opinion through the manufacturing of a degree of rage that might otherwise not exist if all the facts were thoroughly discussed. Does the minister believe that Bill C-63 could get at something like rage farming without getting at the algorithms?

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  These are some headlines that came out in newspapers across the country following the dropping of the budget: “Liberal hike to job-killing capital gains tax is inexcusable”; “Capital gains tax change draws ire from some Canadian entrepreneurs worried it will worsen the brain drain”; “David Dodge wasn't wrong, this federal budget is 'one of the worst in decades'”. Here is the next one: “The Liberals move from borrow and spend, to tax and spend”.

Pharmacare Act  Speaker, I want to ask a question about incompetent Trudeau government overspending. Of course, it raises the ire of members on the other side sometimes when I talk about the Trudeau government of the 1970s and 1980s and the devastating cuts that resulted in the mid-1990s of 32% over two years from 1995 to 1997 for spending on health care, social services and education.

Agriculture committee  Can you talk quickly about the co-operation between our Canadian regulatory folks and the industry with the IR-4 program? Could you also talk about the number of projects that are being supported, given inflationary costs and the lack of support for the PMC? I'm assuming that the number of projects that qualify is being reduced.

Subcommittee on International Human Rights committee  I think it is a tribute to your work and other IPAC legislators that you have attracted such ire. As Winston Churchill, your former prime minister, said: “You have enemies? Good. That means you stood...for something.” I want to ask about the presence of a former Canadian Supreme Court Justice, Beverley McLachlin, on Hong Kong's Court of Final Appeal.

Business of Supply  Those are a higher rural rebate and exemptions in home heating oil, and they are making sure the policy fits for all Canadians. I know that I have drawn the ire of my Conservative colleagues, and I look forward to a time when we are able to have that conversation. I know the hon. member for Sherwood Park—Fort Saskatchewan will stick around after QP, and I cannot wait until we have that back and forth.

Industry committee  I'm thinking about facial recognition technology used by law enforcement, national security, in IRCC and in immigration. Now it can be used maybe in Service Canada, or maybe in the CRA the way the IRS wanted to use facial recognition for doing taxes. Again, these technologies aren't domain-bound. Just like Palantir went from the military to health, FRT, facial recognition technology, works the same way.

Criminal Code  The official figure is 4,100, but he believes it could be much higher. I quote from the Toronto Star. It states: When the churches and the government began the IRS system, the goal was to “kill the Indian in the child.” They aimed to assimilate these children into the new “dominant society...to suppress the Indigenous Peoples and begin appropriating the land and resources of this vast land.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, my comments were never meant to draw the ire of the opposition. It is simply that when I read the text of the motion and what the Conservatives are proposing, the idea that it would bring interest rates back to balanced is unrealistic.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, there are not many things that can really get my ire up in the House, but right now I have to say that this is one of those things. The member of Bloc says we have a dogmatic approach. We are talking about creating consecutiveness and hope, giving people meaning in their lives, giving them identity and empowering them to have a better life.

An Act Respecting Regulatory Modernization  Madam Speaker, Canada is lagging behind when it comes to dealing with tax evasion and tax avoidance. In the United States, the equivalent of the Canada Revenue Agency, or the IRS, has taken legal action. There have been criminal judgments and sentences have been imposed. This has never been done in Canada for tax evasion. More needs to be done. The government says it has more means.

Government Operations committee  I would be the first to speak out against the 2005 money-saving initiative to replace lifelong veterans disability pensions with one-time lump sums. My calls for due process caught the eye and the ire of senior bureaucrats. The Government of Canada, which I lost much of my well-being and health protecting, sought revenge. My benefits and treatment were threatened or taken away. Allies who sat in Parliament refused to speak with me.

Canada Business Corporations Act  In the United States, when the same thing was done, there were investigations, criminal prosecutions and even jail time. The IRS, the Canada Revenue Agency counterpart, put a stop to it. Here, there have been no criminal prosecutions and no jail time. Even though we have laws, even though we have the funding, we do not have the will.
