Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  It remained discretionary. That is why I voted against Bill C-69.. Former Alberta premier Jason Kenney said that this was the anti-pipeline act. I said that it was completely discretionary to the minister in a different government and that it was the pro-pipeline act. Where is the rooting to federal jurisdiction?

Canada Early Learning and Child Care Act  Therefore, we have a significant French population and the training to ensure that those child care workers and teachers are trained and are able to provide that education in French in my riding. It happens at Campus Saint-Jean. Of course, this is the same university that Jason Kenney tried to cut funding to and the federal government had to step in. Just to be fair, the federal government did step in and Campus Saint-Jean continues to give extraordinary service to our community, ensuring that teachers can have a good education to provide those services.

Canada Early Learning and Child Care Act  It is why, in my province of Alberta, Rachel Notley was the first premier to pilot a $25-a-day child care. It was wildly successful, but, of course, the Conservatives were elected under Jason Kenney and they cut that. Right now, the premiers of B.C. and Manitoba, again, New Democratic premiers, are championing and prioritizing the $10-a-day child care. Therefore, Canadians in those provinces will have that program in place.

Business of Supply  I have talked with immigration officials; I have talked with ministers of immigration; I have explained the situation to caucus, and we have seen significant movement, not only in terms of processing times but also in terms of providing temporary visas for those who are trying to get a spouse here from abroad. I could talk about parents and grandparents. When I was critic, Jason Kenney cancelled the program. He said people could not sponsor their mom and dad. The response I get when I pose that question to the Conservative critic is that they came up with the super visa.

Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform  Right now, in Alberta, the far right is controlling what our premier does. We saw this with Jason Kenney. He was not brought down by Albertans; he was brought down by the far right, extreme views of some Albertans, which do not represent the majority of people who cast a ballot in Alberta.

Polish Heritage Month  We knew that was a big issue with regard to getting some justice on that file, but we had a government at that time that we were not sure was going to do the right thing. Eventually, it did. I want to give credit to then minister Jason Kenney, who actually worked hard on this and deserves a note in this chamber for the hard work of making sure a change took place. That was one that was adopted by all the corners of the House, and it shows that, when we put ourselves to the test, at different times, we can find more in common than not.

Affordable Housing and Groceries Act  Not only will this plastic packaging ban lead to higher prices, but it will also reduce competition. This would be like Harper introducing the drug-free prison act while Peter MacKay and Jason Kenney are going around handing out crack pipes to convicts. I can just imagine what the member for Winnipeg North would have to say about that. Let us get the bill to committee. Even though it has been plagiarized from Conservative bills, we have to go over it with a fine-tooth comb.

Foreign Affairs committee  We can't overlook the fact that attempts to get that infrastructure in place have cost Albertans a lot. Jason Kenney wasted $1.5 billion on a bet that the Keystone XL pipeline would go through. We're also seeing the industry laying off workers. Right now, Suncor is laying off 1,500 workers in our sector, despite the fact that they have massive profits and continue to increase their outputs.

Government Operations committee  I'm just trying to assess the level of the non-partisan activity of the Taxpayers Federation. I know that many elected politicians have sat on the Taxpayers Federation, like Jason Kenney, Mike Harris, Rob Ford and a number of other great Canadians, who have represented a strong partisan level of Reform and Conservative Party...and that's okay. I just want it to be clear to the public, and those here in the committee...to understand that level of non-partisan...and the level of integrity about which...going forward.

Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act  There were no timelines. The only thing that made environmentalists think it was a good bill was that Jason Kenney called it the anti-pipeline act. It could just as easily have been called the pro-pipeline act because it is discretionary and lacks the basics that have been in our environmental assessment law since the mid-1970s through to the early 1990s, when former prime minister Brian Mulroney brought forward a very good environmental assessment act.

Prevention of Government-Imposed Vaccination Mandates Act  Whether they were Conservative or New Democratic governments, they often instituted those uniformly, particularly in my province of Alberta. The former member of this chamber Jason Kenney instituted many of those mandates. I think the member is conflating public health measures and the measures taken federally. It is important to note that governments, at one point in this country, were unified on ensuring that Canadians' lives were saved.

Transport committee  That's really a great question. Probably it's best to put it in the words of the former premier of Alberta Jason Kenney who was a big supporter of the Canada Infrastructure Bank, even as a Conservative, because he believed in the importance of getting more infrastructure built, including in Alberta.

Transport committee  We are revolutionizing transit in Canada with our goal to purchase up to 450 zero-emission buses on Brampton's roads in the next six years.” Then there was a massive Alberta irrigation project, with Premier Jason Kenney saying, “This historic investment in irrigation infrastructure will create thousands of jobs and support Alberta's economic recovery, while strengthening our competitive advantage.”

Citizenship Act  These Canadians lost their ability to pass on their citizenship to their children. That is no thanks to the Conservatives and to Jason Kenney through Bill C-37. Even though Bill C-37 was meant to fix the lost Canadian issues, many of the issues were not fixed, even though, in another situation, then ministers Jason Kenney and Chris Alexander had both asserted that Canadians were all British subjects prior to 1947.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the New Democratic Party will take no lessons from the Conservative Party, which sent Jason Kenney to Alberta. He became premier, and guess what? He lost $4 billion of taxpayer money. Does the member have any answers for that?
