Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 2  We also know the Liberals have no interest in imposing internal trade on Canadian provinces. They would much rather impose a national carbon tax. On that note, I would simply point out that none of our major trading partners will be imposing such a tax. All those same trading partners have superior internal trading policies of their own, something we should all be thinking about if we are serious about growing the economy.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 2  They have made it more difficult to qualify for a home. They have made it more difficult to pay off student debt by adding extra carbon taxes and adding on to CPP. Most of the students will not benefit from the middle-income tax cut they have offered. I think that is wrong.

Canada Pension Plan  There are less small businesses willing to hire young people because of things like CPP and carbon taxes. I would love to be able to say that we are able to take these small amounts over time, which would be the logical thing, but that is not what is happening. What happens if there is another recession in five years when these things start to kick in full bore?

Finance committee  I appreciate your perspective. In regard to the carbon tax, the government has contended that it will be revenue neutral. Obviously, it won't be revenue neutral to the people who pay it, because they are going to see the price at the pump or on the price of produce and whatnot going up.

Finance committee  Are you planning on instituting a carbon tax so that you can have more control over how it's implemented, or are you simply going to let the federal government continue and impose that tax on your constituents?

Finance committee  Okay. You're going to introduce a carbon tax or...?

Paris Agreement  Would there be strings attached to that, linking it to certain pet projects of the government? Would there be GST on top of the so-called carbon tax? These are questions that my constituents have. These are questions whose answers should be known by members of provincial legislative assemblies right across this country. If the member does not know, that is fine, but I do hope that she and her government will be presenting these details in the days to come.
