Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise today to speak to the motion moved by my colleague, the member for Central Okanagan—Similkameen—Nicola. This motion has been affectionately dubbed “free the beer”. As a new member of Parliament, I must say that it is truly motivating to listen to an experienced parliamentarian like the member for Abbotsford.

Young Entrepreneur Day  Mr. Speaker, today I am speaking on behalf of Xavier, 9, Jordane, 7, and Guillaume, 4, from Thetford Mines, who decided to start their own business called Becs sucrés XJG. Pauline, 10, Martin, 8, and Auguste, 5, from Lac-Mégantic, are shareholders in another business, Pain et compagnie.

Aerospace Industry  Mr. Speaker, the agreement has not been signed. Bill C-10 was introduced this week at second reading in the Senate on behalf of the Liberal government by independent senator André Pratte, who was just appointed by the Prime Minister. The government deliberately misled the senator.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, no matter where I am sitting, I will always rise to defend dairy producers. That is what we should take away today. I truly enjoyed the speech by my colleague, who said that it is important to the people in his riding to see concrete measures and not just feel that they have been listened to, because the government only wants to listen.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, there are many parts to that question. First, the member criticized the previous government for being silent on this issue. It is true that we were silent, but we took action. Which is better, being silent and protecting supply management in our international agreements, or talking all the time and doing nothing?

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I really appreciate the question because it sums up the situation quite nicely. The government talks so much that farmers had to bring boots to the Hill to encourage it to walk that talk and move things forward. That was a powerful and impressive image. In terms of debates and whether or not to support the motion, it is like milk that is not milk, because the government has finally realized that diafiltered milk is not milk.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I commend my colleague on his work. He is a strong supporter of dairy farmers. He also came with us to meet the farmers in front of the House of Commons, to talk to them and understand their message. These people did not take a day off right in the middle of forage crop season, sacrifice some of their work, and hire people to fill in for them, which cost a lot of money, just to tell us that milk is wonderful and white.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I like this question because I see that my colleague had no problem using lots of empty rhetoric. His question was full of it. The Liberals have a habit of doing that. As for the position of my colleague who is running for the party leadership, unlike the Liberal Party, we do not muzzle anyone.

Committees of the House  Madam Speaker, I am pleased, yet rather surprised, to have to once again rise in the House to talk about the diafiltered milk issue. Everyone has been aware of this problem for months now. The problem is growing because nothing is being done. The problem is getting bigger and it is blowing up in our faces, here in the House of Commons, since 3,000 dairy producers came all the way to Parliament Hill to protest and express their frustration.

Air Canada Public Participation Act  Madam Speaker, I will be very brief. I found the first part of the question more interesting than the second. The important thing today is just to tell the government to delay passing Bill C-10. Regardless of the measures or the past, passage of Bill C-10 must be delayed to ensure that the jobs at risk are guaranteed.

Air Canada Public Participation Act  Madam Speaker, no offence to my hon. colleague, but now I understand their position on electoral reform and Bill C-10 a little better. What we just heard is a federal minister who does not respect the results of a provincial election. It is the new provincial government's prerogative to make whatever decisions it likes, and it is asking the federal government to delay the passing of Bill C-10, because this bill does not guarantee any jobs in Manitoba.

Air Canada Public Participation Act  Madam Speaker, in my speech I had many opportunities to explain why I cannot believe the rhetoric from across the way because they said one thing and did another. It has been like that since the beginning of the session. It is hard to believe this rhetoric. They get caught up in this rhetoric all the time.

Air Canada Public Participation Act  Mr. Speaker, I tried to fix my error, but it was not indeed an error. Thank you for letting me try again. What the minister told us was not true. The deputy premier of Manitoba said: There are significant implications to moving forward with Bill C-10. It is not appropriate to rush through without substantial dialogue and consideration.

Air Canada Public Participation Act  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise in the House to speak, perhaps for the last time, to Bill C-10, an act to amend the Air Canada Public Participation Act and to provide for certain other measures. There are very few other measures, as this is a small bill. I will be sharing my time with the hon. member for Elgin—Middlesex—London.

Air Canada Public Participation Act  Mr. Speaker, so many things have been said in the debate on Bill C-10 that I am not sure where to begin. I want to try to make the government understand that this is absolutely not an urgent bill. Quite the contrary. I think that, today, the government is playing cheap partisan politics.
