Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her very interesting speech. Once again, I am grateful for the gains made by unemployed workers, whether they are seasonal or full-time workers. I have a great deal of sympathy for this woman and the ordeal she went through, but I am puzzled that she is telling me that an organization said 26 weeks was enough.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, many matters can be referred to committees, but they are not as urgent. Seasonal workers were mentioned earlier. I have known seasonal work very well for the past 30 years. I can assure my colleague that there are eligibility criteria for employment insurance. When a seasonal or full-time worker meets the criteria for their region and unemployment rate, they are entitled to a full 50 weeks of benefits.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his comments. I agree with my colleague that concrete efforts have been made. These remarkable efforts have indeed helped change the situation for certain workers. I said “certain workers” because those changes do not help all workers. It is on a case-by-case basis.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, to begin with, I would like to reassure the people of my riding. They are not just concerned about employment insurance sickness benefits. They are also concerned about the infamous spring gap that many of them will have to deal with in March. I want to reassure my constituents that I will listen to them and will continue to work hard so that the special EI needs of people in the regions are heard.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to see you here again. I thank my colleague for her speech and for her concern about the need to reform the Employment Insurance Act. I agree with her. There are some aspects of employment insurance that need to be examined in more detail and that may require more attention.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. We are not close-minded in the Bloc Québécois. We gladly welcome the additional provisions, for seasonal work, for example. I am from Charlevoix, and from Isle-aux-Coudres specifically. It is only accessible by ferry. I am quite familiar with the notions of worker retention and employment insurance.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, of course we are concerned about the hardships facing aluminum workers in neighbouring ridings. The economic threats facing the aluminum and agricultural sectors because of CUSMA affect all of Quebec, and especially Charlevoix. I am extremely concerned about some of the provisions in CUSMA.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for the question. It is clear that Quebec has become a bargaining chip for Canada during negotiations. The single tax return is a good example of that. The opinion of a spokesperson for Quebec alone should not be used to pressure the Bloc when it comes to all of Quebec's demands with regard to its people, its nation.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, it goes without saying that this agreement affects more than just Quebec. As far as dairy farmers are concerned, 50% of dairy production occurs in Quebec. Obviously, we feel a bit more concerned than all the dairy farmers in Canada. When I talk about dairy farmers, it is not just those in Quebec.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I have been listening to the House debate on CUSMA for a few weeks now. The Bloc Québécois promised to speak on behalf of Quebeckers here in the House, to ensure that our people, our industries and our investors are represented, heard, protected and served in this Parliament.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague sincerely. In Quebec, indigenous culture is a part of us. Many of us have strong family ties to indigenous communities. Our cultures intersect on a regular basis and exist side by side. Florent Vollant, Elisapie and Koriass are people who are contributing to our culture and are very popular in Quebec.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague and close comrade. The women of the Bloc Québécois are a tight-knit bunch. Yes, we will move all these projects forward. I am trying to be brief, so I will not list them all, but obviously my colleague and I are on the same page. We will keep a very close eye on all of those things.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, I want to thank my colleague for his kind words. I think he is reaching out to us, and I am deeply touched. I hope all of Quebec is seeing us listening and talking to one another and promising to improve conditions for our workers in the culture sector, as well as in production.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, woman to woman, allow me to congratulate you on being appointed Assistant Deputy Speaker of the 43rd Parliament. You are doing all women proud. Since this is my first time speaking in the House, I want to take a moment for acknowledgements. I may not always be as articulate and eloquent as my colleague, because I would rather sing my speech than say it.
