Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for the question. Given everything that was negotiated, the Canada-EU comprehensive economic and trade agreement is multi-faceted and covers sectors such as aerospace, agriculture, and food. However, today my speech focuses mainly on culture, a sector for which we committed $35 million over two years to support the promotion of Canadian artists and Canadian cultural industries abroad.

Grand défi Pierre Lavoie Challenge  Madam Speaker, last Sunday in Montreal, along with close to 5,000 participants, I had the pleasure of taking part in the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie Challenge. This event seeks to promote healthy living among Canadians. Since 1999, Pierre has been challenging us to get involved in sports and teaching kids that anything is possible with determination and a positive attitude.

Sport and Persons with Disabilities  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague from Châteauguay—Lacolle for her excellent question. I watched both the Paralympic Games and the Olympic Games. Saying that our athletes made us proud is an understatement. The Canadian paralympic team finished 14th, and our Olympic team finished 10th.

2016 Olympians and Paralympians  Mr. Speaker, on behalf of all Canadians, the Government of Canada would like to extend its congratulations to all members of Team Canada who represented us at the recent Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. From coast to coast to coast, Canadians want to thank all the athletes, the trainers, who in fact are celebrating national trainers week, the medical and support staff, and all the families and friends for their passion and determination in pursuing the highest level in their sport.

Brain Injury Awareness Month  Madam Speaker, I rise today as part of brain injury awareness month to talk about raising awareness of the causes and effects of brain injuries across Canada. People suffering from general brain injuries may experience greatly reduced awareness. These alterations generally result in physical, cognitive, and emotional deterioration.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for his French. I would like to thank my colleague for his fine effort. I would also like to congratulate him on his speech. My colleague opposite talked about tax credits in the first part of his speech. He even mentioned that we are fostering obesity in youth by cutting tax credits.

Félix Bertrand  Mr. Speaker, I rise today to pay tribute to a young man from Saint-André-Avellin. Félix Bertrand, who is 13, is a freestyle skiing champion who lives in the beautiful riding of Argenteuil—La Petite-Nation. Félix won more than a dozen medals this year and two gold medals at the Canadian championships.

Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities Receives Award  Mr. Speaker, March 8 was International Women's Day. The theme for 2016 was “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. The current government is the first in Canada to achieve gender parity in its cabinet. A cabinet member recently was given an award by the International Paralympic Committee.

Citizenship Act  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my colleague for his speech. I also want to thank him for what he said in his introduction about welcoming immigrants. He also supports welcoming immigrants, so that fits in with what our party is advocating. However, a leopard does not change its spots.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, we are getting two different messages from the members opposite. Some Conservatives are saying that we are spending too much, that we are overspending. Now, my colleague opposite is saying that we need to invest more. As everyone knows, it is very costly to build this airport and expand it above water.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for her speech. She spoke at length about Alberta and we understand the situation. The government also understands that the current decline in the price of oil in Alberta is one of the main factors. This situation is also found in Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Labrador, and elsewhere.
