Health  Mr. Speaker, a critical part of our economy involves businesses that make the machinery of business. We are world-class players in this field in southwestern Ontario. Face-to-face meetings are critical for Uni-Fab, a Leamington employer that's owner wants to double its size and add 150 well-paying jobs, but they need access to Michigan.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, my hon. colleague's background is not a lie. He is a lawyer. There were concerns expressed in 2016 with the legislation then, about the potential for judicial creep and now we are experiencing some of that. Why would the decision, then, not be appealed to the Supreme Court where the court could actually uphold some of the guardrails and safeguards that it put in place?

Main Estimates, 2020-21  Madam Speaker, my colleague mentioned that he was supportive of the amount of money that was spent directly to Canadians. I agree that most of the pandemic response should have been put directly toward Canadians. Could the member comment on what percentage of the response to the pandemic should be in that category, as in direct to Canadians?

Health  Mr. Speaker, unregistered pesticides, lost tax revenue, dangerous working conditions, undocumented workers and links to organized crime are but a few of the damaging consequences of large-scale grow ops in Essex County. Will the minister commit to a meeting with my three Essex colleagues, from three parties, and myself to address the federal role in this crisis?

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, like my colleague from Manitoba, those in the Ontario freshwater fishery have expressed concerns that they do not seem to be a priority for DFO. In fact, I listened intently to the minister's opening speech, and there was no mention of them. Could the minister briefly outline the top priorities in the three-year to five-year plan of the ministry for the Ontario freshwater fishery?

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, the Great Lakes fishery has an economic value of over $8 billion, but it was largely decimated by the invasion of the sea lamprey. Economic viability was restored through the convention with the U.S., the treaty called the “Convention on Great Lakes Fisheries”. The resulting control measures were implemented binationally.

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, we contribute $10 million, but we are $10 million short. I can say that eight Great Lakes U.S. senators raised the issue with the Canadian ambassador in 2016. This past spring, the U.S. Great Lakes task force met with a Canadian MP and a Canadian senator and again raised the chronic underfunding issue.

Telecommunications  Mr. Speaker, recent storms that ripped through my constituency especially ravaged the remote community of Pelee Island with high winds and waves. Isolated in the middle of Lake Erie 14 kilometres south of the mainland, Pelee Island has no fibre links and intermittent cellphone coverage when the power goes out.

Official Languages  Mr. Speaker, it is a technical issue in that the translation and the French were at the same volume and incomprehensible.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I applaud the member opposite's passion for her community and for her citizens, but I have come to one of the revenue provisions that has been contemplated: the taxation of excess profits. My question is twofold. First, is there a working definition that has been embedded in the motion, or is there one that is being contemplated?
