Online Streaming Act  If the CRTC does not do it, people can bet their boots that the Liberals will require YouTube and Facebook to do the job for them. This bill hurts consumers and creators, and it has even drawn ire and concern from the provinces. In fact, Quebec has written a letter to the government expressing its concern and asking for more consultations before the bill moves forward. For all of these reasons and more, we Conservatives, in this House and in the Senate, are the only ones to stand in the breach and oppose Bill C-11 in its current form.

Foreign Affairs committee  I am always respectful of people from Canada's Parliament who come to explain their opinions. I am, of course, aware of the debate that followed my tweet, but I'm not going to pursue ir further. I had never intended to engage in it and I'm not about to do so today.

Health committee  In light of that, I wonder if you could comment on how the current funding and committed funding from our federal government can be utilized to answer the needs of communities. We know the ire across the country. Mayo is in a bad state at the moment, but we know there are many in a similar situation around the country.

Information & Ethics committee  Conacher is 100% correct when he says the U.S. system has different and more stringent disclosure laws. Their lobbying system is run by the IRS. They have a different set of resources from the lobbying commissioner, who I think has 30 employees. I can't remember exactly what it is. Part of the reason why there is public disclosure in the United States is that the IRS gets their tax returns and they can tell what they're spending money on.

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act  Browder made a lot of money, and this drew the attention of the Russian government, particularly President Vladimir Putin. Mr. Browder's Russian lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, also drew the attention and the ire of the Russian authorities. Eventually, Mr. Magnitsky died in a Russian prison, clearly the victim of an extrajudicial killing, torture and a gross violation of human rights, to pick up on the language of the Magnitsky law.

Finance committee  We must bear in mind that solicitor-client privilege is not absolute, because it does not apply when a lawyer advises their client to do something illegal. The Canada Revenue Agency's American counterpart, the Internal Revenue Service, or IRS, gave KPMG an ultimatum when it tried to pull the same thing in the U.S. The company could either hand over the list of clients with whom it had conspired to defraud the IRS or it would face criminal prosecution and risk dissolution.

Agriculture committee  Hopefully, without drawing the ire of my colleagues, I can add something here. As a lawyer, Ms. Coughlin, you're a witness after my own heart. I formerly worked at McInnes Cooper. You did a great job of laying out the regulatory elements.

Canadian Heritage committee  Nicholson, I'm going to read a statement from the Cromwell report: Now Hockey Canada has adopted an informal approach that would see claims run first through the NEF, then the reserve sub-fund in the IRS Fund, then to the Legacy Trust, and finally to the remaining funds in the IRS Fund. To our knowledge, the Legacy Trust was not designed with the IRS Fund in mind and no formal policy exists to govern how Hockey Canada is to respond to claims.

Transport committee  Based on that provision and those scenarios, passengers are exempt from compensation. It appears that disruptions with this characteristic have raised the ire of many travellers and consumer groups, which claim that airlines have been misusing this characterization to escape the compensation requirements of disruptions within an airline's control.

The Environment  Radio-Canada recently published an article under the headline “Woodland caribou: [the Bloc leader] draws the ire of biologists”. It said that the Bloc leader had expressed doubts about the science behind the decline of the caribou. On this side of the House, we believe in the science of climate change.

Official Languages committee  We feel we have a duty to remember that thousands of francophones across the country have attended anglophone schools against their will and passed on their language in secret, concealing their books to avoid the ire of the majority. We have a duty to remember the rights holders who, despite their goodwill, lost the privilege of educating their children in French. In this regard, the three provisions concerning language rights, even unamended, must be interpreted as correcting the errors of the past.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  Right now, I haven't had the opportunity yet to speak to any of the federal people about getting a chance to move or finding safer land, for that matter. When we look at the lands that are within the Shackan Indian Band, we have IR#11, IR#12 and IR#13. IR#12 is pretty much like a valley. It's a three-sided valley, so it goes in two different directions. It's a triangular valley. In the middle of that triangle is where they have IR#12.
