Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, it is true that the buildings they work in sometimes have wires hanging from the ceiling. I know that the military police station has not been kept up in decades. However, there is a place that is even worse than what we have seen in some of the barracks in Petawawa, which is Shearwater.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, the increases in pay are not keeping up with the pace of increases in the cost of living, none the least of which was this recent increase in rent. They are calling me and telling me that they are having to leave the forces because they just cannot afford to live there anymore.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise on behalf of the women and men serving in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Ottawa valley, across Canada and abroad. In February, the Standing Committee on National Defence passed its eighth report. The report said, “Given that, rent for Canadian military personnel living on bases is increasing this April, and at a time when the military is struggling to recruit and retain personnel, the committee report to the House, that the government immediately cancel all plans to increase rent on military accommodations used by the Department of National Defence.”

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, if the member who just spoke has a scintilla of conviction in what she just said about the lack of funding for the military, why is she going to be voting in favour of the budget and propping up the government that has nothing but disdain for our troops?

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to present a petition signed by the great people of Windsor West, Windsor—Tecumseh, London West, London North Centre and London—Fanshawe, calling on the House of Commons to immediately repeal the new regulatory constraints passed last year on the natural health products that millions of Canadians rely upon, which have since affected their medical freedom of choice and affordability.

Finance  Madam Speaker, the Liberals' gaslighting is endless. If they were forced to pay the carbon tax on all that hot air, we could pay off their $2-trillion debt tomorrow. As these far left radicals grow even more desperate, Canadians can expect a flood of misinformation and disinformation of biblical size.

Finance  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to rise on behalf of the Canadians in the frugal riding of Renfrew—Nipissing—Pembroke. Recently I asked the NDP-Liberal coalition if they would adopt a dollar-for-dollar rule for this week's budget. It is a common-sense rule where a government finds a dollar in savings for every new dollar of spending.

Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act  Madam Speaker, notwithstanding that what the Ukrainians need are NASAMS and ammunition, rather than a carbon tax, does the member opposite realize that the European EV market is taking a blood bath because nobody wants EVs, and that President Biden is rolling back his Soviet-style requirements for the sales of EVs?

Malcolm Montgomery  Mr. Speaker, as members of the House, we are all given the remarkable gift of having our words etched in time. I believe the highest honour we can bestow upon someone is to say their name in the House. I rise today to speak of my dear friend and longest-serving staff member Malcolm Montgomery, who passed away in November after 31 years of service to Parliament.

Finance  Mr. Speaker, after eight years, the NDP-Liberal government's addiction to spending is out of control. It is getting high off an unsafe supply of drugs and borrowed money. Its spending habit is driving up inflation. Interest rate cuts might be stalled because of out-of-control spending.
