Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to present a petition demanding universal access to free contraception, which has gathered thousands of signatures. This policy is based on sound economics; it would save taxpayer dollars; strengthen individuals, families and communities; and make life more affordable for everyday Canadians.

Government Programs  Mr. Speaker, a strong entrepreneurial spirit exists across the Prairies and, from small towns to big cities, there are ample opportunities to continue to grow and diversify our economy that leaves no one behind. Our government is making strategic investments to help businesses and communities get their projects off the ground, scale up and share with the world what the Prairies have to offer.

Foreign Affairs  Mr. Speaker, the war in Gaza has been devastating for so many innocent Palestinians. Gaza is one of the worst places in the world to be. While we were the first western government to actively provide life-saving aid, the silence from the party opposite has been deafening. Can the Minister of International Development please tell us how important it is that we all come together and support efforts to get aid to the desperate civilians who have been devastated by the war?

Climate Change  Madam Speaker, the world has experienced its warmest year ever, with Canadians facing devastating and deadly wildfires. At COP28, Canada advocated to secure ambitious outcomes to keep the Paris Agreement goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C within reach. With the support of a strong and diverse Canadian delegation, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change was proud to represent Canada at this important conference.

Prohibition of the Export of Horses by Air for Slaughter Act  Madam Speaker, before I begin, I just want to acknowledge a staffer in my office who was a page last year, who diligently served here in the House and who is celebrating a birthday today. I wish Jacob Wilson a happy 20th birthday. I am pleased to stand in support of my colleague's private member's bill, Bill C-355, the prohibition of the export of horses by air for slaughter act.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present, in both official languages, the 12th report of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources, in relation to Bill C-50, An Act respecting accountability, transparency and engagement to support the creation of sustainable jobs for workers and economic growth in a net-zero economy.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, last week, Dow Chemical announced a multi-billion dollar investment in Alberta. While the Conservative members from Alberta voted against the policies that helped us land this job-creating deal, Liberals still made it happen. If the Conservatives were in power—

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, if they were in power, the climate science-denying Conservatives would squander these investments with their alternative-facts-based agenda. Can the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources update this House on how my home province of Alberta—

Renewable Energy  Mr. Speaker, Alberta's Premier Danielle Smith is doubling down on fear and fiction. I am disappointed but not surprised. This is a premier who wasted millions of Alberta taxpayer dollars on an anti-national clean electricity misinformation campaign; a premier who paid her old Conservative friend to write a partisan report about COVID to help get Poilievre's Conservatives elected, again using taxpayer dollars—

Renewable Energy  Mr. Speaker, this is a premier who lied to Albertans when she said she was asked by electricity regulators and the association of rural municipalities to impose a recent ban on renewables. It is a troubling pattern. Last month, I called on Premier Smith to lift the renewables moratorium so we can continue building Alberta's clean energy sector.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, my constituents and other Canadians have brought forward a petition regarding the people of Pakistan. Pakistani Canadians are becoming increasingly concerned about reports of political turmoil and uncertainty in Pakistan following the unjust removal of a democratically elected government and the subsequent arrests of Imran Khan and members of his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Pensions  Mr. Speaker, the Canada pension plan is a key pillar in the federal government's commitment to support Canadians in their retirement. Residents in my province are worried about the attack it is facing. Even more alarming is the official opposition's continued silence on the issue.

Petitions  Madam Speaker, I am proud to rise this morning to present a petition signed by Canadians addressed to the Government of Canada. The petition recognizes that Palestinians in West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem have endured Israeli occupation and continuously expanding Israeli settlements in the occupied territories.

Justice  Mr. Speaker, I join Canadians from across the country in giving a warm welcome and congratulations to our newest Supreme Court Justice, Mary T. Moreau. Justice Moreau was selected by the independent advisory council, nominated by the Prime Minister, and will be sworn in to her new position today.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, the drive to net zero is creating economic prosperity for Canadians right now in every region of the country, from critical mineral mines to renewable energy projects to hydrogen production facilities. If we provide the right supports and bring workers to the table now, these opportunities will only increase.
