Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, the reason we voted against them is that we voted non-confidence in this government. Medicine Hat and the area is home to numerous greenhouse operations like Big Marble Farms, which grows fresh vegetables like cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. This year alone, Big Marble Farms will pay over $500,000 in carbon taxes.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, while I am a supporter of Ukraine, I know what it is really asking for is munitions, for things that can help it win the war. I want to focus back on my riding. I want to focus back on Canadians. What is driving their costs up is the high cost of production. The carbon tax is exactly part of that.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, what I do know, from growing up on a large farm and ranch in my youth, is that farmers and ranchers are the most amazing stewards of our land. I have witnessed it first-hand. I see it now as I travel in my riding. I see the thousands of people who make their living off the farm.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, it is always great to interact with my NDP friend. I will tell members this. Plants in a greenhouse require carbon dioxide to grow. If they do not have it, they do not grow to the extent they need to. When we look at greenhouse farming across this country, whether it is in southern Ontario, southern Alberta or B.C., there is a need for our producers, who are using the latest technology possible on energy efficiencies, to use technology to pipe the CO2 from their facility operations into their greenhouses so those plants can feed on the carbon dioxide that is emitted.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I have it on good authority that the Prime Minister's favourite Christmas movie is The Grinch. In fact, it may be where the Prime Minister came up with the idea for his carbon tax. Just like the Grinch took the food off the plates of the Whos in Whoville, the Prime Minister is also a fan of taking food off the plates of Canadians.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, if one ate today, they can thank a farmer. If one could not afford to eat today, they can thank these Liberals. Our farmers spend their days working hard to ensure that Canadians have enough food. The NDP-Liberal government spends its days developing new ways to tax Canadians and drive up costs.

Government Business No. 31—Proceedings on Bill C-50  Madam Speaker, it was very clear in the House moments ago that the member for Timmins—James Bay not only disrespected you but is challenging the Chair. He should be named and dealt with accordingly.

Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub  Mr. Speaker, after eight years of the Prime Minister, he is not worth the cost as life has become so expensive that Canadians are having to choose between eating and other necessities. So far in 2023, more Canadians have gone to food banks than at any time in our recent history.

Government Business No. 30—Proceedings on Bill C-56  Madam Speaker, I have just a couple of things. The clean fuel standard, which applies in Quebec, is actually a carbon tax. While there may not be a carbon tax as such, there is a clean fuel standard. That is a carbon tax. When I talk to my constituents, they want me, as their representative in the House, to ensure they have the ability to move forward and to make a living.

Government Business No. 30—Proceedings on Bill C-56  Madam Speaker, I agree that the current leader of the government is not to be trusted. The Prime Minister is a sham, and he has achieved nothing but failures for our country. If we want to look at an act that would help Canadians with housing, then we need to look at the Conservative leader's and the Conservative Party's plan in the housing and not bureaucracy act, which would actually make a difference for Canadians and would get them into homes that are sustainable moving forward.

Government Business No. 30—Proceedings on Bill C-56  Madam Speaker, the building homes not bureaucracy act, as presented by the Conservative leader, is not just a set of words or an ostentatious announcement. It is a clarion call for genuine reform, which that act is all about. It embodies the Conservative commitment to forge a future where affordable living is not a privilege but a right for all Canadians.

Government Business No. 30—Proceedings on Bill C-56  Madam Speaker, I think it is important to understand that, first of all, Canadians are speaking very loudly. They are tired of the government. They are tired of policies that damage their futures, and that impact the ability of their children to afford homes and themselves to afford homes.

Government Business No. 30—Proceedings on Bill C-56  Madam Speaker, it is always an honour to rise in this place and represent the amazing people of Medicine Hat—Cardston—Warner, as well as all Canadians. It is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but it is breathtaking just how desperate the Liberals have become.

Carbon Tax  Mr. Speaker, after eight years under the Prime Minister, he is just not worth the cost. Canada is broken. Households and businesses across this country are struggling to hold on, losing hope that things will ever get better. The Prime Minister decided to pause the carbon tax on home heating oil for only 3% of Canadians.
