Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, one of the components of the motion is a contemplation of the tax on the equity or the assets of the super wealthy. If that were to come about, what impact would that have on capital flows coming into Canada and, more important, potentially leaving Canada? In his opinion, would that require legislation to stem that?

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, one component of the motion we are debating today is flexibility. I was listening for that. I am recalling all of the emails I received, particularly back in May and June, and I am going to focus my comments specifically on the commercial rent program, CECRA. Many businesses could not make use of that because of their relationship with their landlords, but I want to cite a meeting I had with Fred Naclerio, a large commercial landlord, who met with me wanting to do the right thing by his hundreds of tenants.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, consumers continue to struggle with rising food costs, while farmers and processors are receiving less. Five retailers now control over 80% of the grocery trade in Canada. This diminished competition leads to abuses in the industry while sticking consumers with the bill.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, no one bid on the Department of Public Safety's first attempt at an invitation for a contract to design ways to pay off confiscation victims, referring to forced seizures as potential buy-backs of firearms. The deadline to apply for a second attempt to criminalize and confiscate is November 3.

Public Service Tribute  Madam Speaker, 338 members of Parliament have the honour, privilege and responsibility of representing Canadians in this chamber. This work would not be possible without the capable support we receive from staff. Especially since the outbreak of COVID-19, our staff have been essential in delivering services to our constituents.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I was encouraged when I heard the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion state that she felt it was not advisable for Canadians to have access to MAID more easily than supports for our disabled community. Could my hon. colleague comment on whether what is proposed in Bill C-7 makes that situation worse or better?

Lobster Fishery Dispute in Nova Scotia  Mr. Speaker, I must admit that after four-plus hours into this emergency debate tonight, I am somewhat confused. I am somewhat confused over process because it is my assumption that the purpose of an emergency debate that was called for by four ministers is to draw sufficient attention to a matter.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I wish to thank my hon. colleague for his perspective on this issue. Indeed, I want to thank all of the members from both sides of the aisle who have shared on this deeply important topic. My concern, and the member raised it, as did several of the previous speakers, is about the concerns expressed by the most vulnerable in our society, the disabled.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, my understanding is that the aluminum going forward under the present provisions does not have the same protection as steel. I would certainly enjoin any efforts that would grant that to our aluminum producers. I am not aware of that at this point.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, unfortunately, I did not have the time to finish my concluding comments, but I will go at that question another way. The government does have a responsibility to the sectors affected by its decisions and there should be redress for the casualties of the government's compromises.
