Agriculture committee Just before we move back to this topic, in British Columbia, for example, the fruit growers are considering anti-dumping regulations for the apples coming in. Who would that go through, or who deals with that? What's the process if, for example, the fruit growers feel there's dumping going on with apples coming into British Columbia?
June 1st, 2006Committee meeting
Agriculture committee To your knowledge, has this been done recently?
June 1st, 2006Committee meeting
Agriculture committee Thank you. I guess I still have some time left and can continue.
June 1st, 2006Committee meeting
Agriculture committee Okay, I'll ask one of the questions I have here in front of me. Since Canada's dairy farmers are responsible for certain costs associated with the storage of skim milk powder, the more imports there are of dairy ingredients that displace skim milk powder, the more farmers' costs increase.
June 1st, 2006Committee meeting
Agriculture committee The second motion, I'm sorry. Now we have motion number two. Mr. Atamanenko, do you have any points to make on that?
May 30th, 2006Committee meeting
The ChairConservative
Agriculture committee There's also an amendment to the second motion that Mr. Easter has, following the same procedure.
May 30th, 2006Committee meeting
Agriculture committee If the amendment on the motion doesn't pass, we still have a chance to vote for this.

May 30th, 2006Committee meeting
Agriculture committee Can I just ask about the procedure? Which is the motion that we vote on? Is it the friendly amendments, or my motion as presented?
May 30th, 2006Committee meeting
Agriculture committee Thank you, Mr. Anderson. Mr. Atamanenko. No? Mr. Steckle.

Agriculture committee I'll try to be quick this time. Having visited pork slaughterhouses, for example, I understand that there is a national standard when we export out of the country, and that there has to be the same meat standard from each part of the country. Other slaughter facilities that don't export have their own provincial standards, I believe.

Agriculture committee Okay, thank you.
