Together, Apart  Mr. Speaker, as we know, during this pandemic many residents are facing challenges and hardship. On May 21, I had an extraordinary time co-hosting the virtual concert “Together, Apart” through Facebook with my elected colleagues, MPP Stephen Blais and councillors Laura Dudas and Matthew Luloff.

Canadian Heritage  Mr. Speaker, now more than ever, Canadians and the people of Orléans are realizing that art and culture are an integral part of their lives. It is at times like these that Canadians need art and culture the most to lift their spirits during isolation. Can the Minister of Canadian Heritage tell the House about measures the government has taken to ensure that our artists, our creators and our athletes can continue to inspire us and bring us together even while we are apart during this difficult time?

Small and Medium-sized Businesses  Mr. Speaker, in these uncertain times, we rely on the talent and ingenuity of Canadians across the country. Canadians understand that we must focus on manufacturing essential products in Canada. By ramping up production in Canada, not only are we supporting our health care and front-line workers but we are also ensuring small and medium-sized businesses can stay open across the country.

Orléans Business Community  Mr. Speaker, since the beginning of the pandemic, I have been listening to the Orléans business community, and I am proud of the actions taken by the government to date. Thanks to the business emergency fund and, more importantly, its expansion, an audiology company with a payroll of $46,000 or a ventilation company with a payroll of $1.3 million is now eligible for an interest-free emergency loan.

Human Rights  Mr. Speaker, Canada's strength lies in its strong, diverse and inclusive communities. Since coming to power in 2015, our government has increased support to LGBTQ+ communities. Canadians may be surprised to learn that people are undergoing so-called conversion therapy in this country even to this day.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, at this point, I feel confident that our government has shown transparency and openness since 2015. We are probably one of the most transparent and we are here to show members this. I would remind the hon. member that while I might not have been here in 2015, I do live in Orleans and Ottawa.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, the member touched on a few things about seniors. He talked about investing in local people and what matters to them when it comes to the middle class. One thing I know is this. If employers pay their employees decent wages, all the economics will show these people will in turn continue to spend inside our communities, helping small businesses grow the economy.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, as a former businesswoman, I understand debt. The debt ratio in Canada is at its lowest. We have a low interest rate, which has allowed us to foster economic growth in investments. I am very happy with what I hear from people when I go door to door. They they want a government that invests in what matters to them.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I will be sharing my time with the member for Kings—Hants. I am very pleased to rise today to speak about the government's actual record rather than the selective statistics chosen by the hon. member for Carleton. The results of the government's investment in people, communities and hard-working Canadians are clear.

International Women's Day  Mr. Speaker, the entire month of March is Francophonie month. On March 2, I attended the launch of the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie in Orleans. This year's theme is, fittingly, “at the centre of a change”. It was a pleasure to talk about change in all its forms with students from Le Prélude and Mer Bleue schools.

Digital Government  Mr. Speaker, in an age of rapidly evolving technologies, the government has new tools it can rely on, such as artificial intelligence, to improve services to Canadians. Could the Minister of Digital Government tell the House how the government is using artificial intelligence to improve services to Canadians?

Family Day  Mr. Speaker, yesterday all Ontarians celebrated Family Day, and the community of Orleans, which I am privileged to represent, joined me for some fun at a local bowling alley. I was pleased to see such a great turnout as nearly 500 people joined me at the Orleans Bowling Centre to play with their friends and their families.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act  Mr. Speaker, as I was saying I am so proud, and we should all be very proud, of the enormous work that our CBSA employees, over 14,000 of them, do. We talked about 14 airports and 117 bridges. We have the largest aspect in the world of protecting our borders, and we have to say thank you, because in Canada we all want Canadians to be safe.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my opposition colleague for his question. As I said in my speech, Bill C-3 is important. We have talked about this many times, but this organization is the only one that does not have an independent complaints review system. This bill will create that. We have always said that our government wants to be more transparent and accountable.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act  Mr. Speaker, since my colleague has given me the opportunity, I would like to take a moment to thank the 14,000 employees who work at CBSA. I would also like to point out that this bill has strong support. We hope the House understands the importance of this bill, which will enhance accountability and transparency within the CBSA.
