Health committee  At our September 2009 meeting, the working group members also agreed to an interim sodium intake goal of 2,300 milligrams per day by 2016. We must say that right now the levels of consumption for Canadians are around 3,400 milligrams. In the long term, we are moving towards a goal of approximately 1,500 milligrams. A detailed draft of the three-pronged strategy will be discussed by the working group members at a meeting in December 2009.

Controlled Drugs and Substances Act  According to the Statistics Canada Juristat bulletin entitled “Crime Statistics in Canada, 2004”, offences related to the cultivation of marijuana more than doubled during the last decade, going from approximately 3,400 in 1994 to 8,000 in 2004. According to a study on marijuana grow operations in British Columbia, approximately 39% of all reported marijuana cultivation cases were located in B.C. Between 1997 and 2000, the total number of these cases increased by over 220%.

Human Resources committee  I just wanted to give you a price tag of one of our major proposals. Our proposal is that the Canada child tax benefit be increased. It's around $3,400 to $3,500 now per child, maximum. We propose that it go up to $5,000. Our proposal would take existing federal spending--so that's the universal child care benefit, the non-refundable child tax credit, and the Canada child tax benefit--and go back to a single program, a larger Canada child tax benefit.

Canadian Heritage committee  The witnesses were talking about almost 327 tours being cancelled, 3,400 representations, and almost $24 million in costs being lost as a result of the cuts, and I believe Shannon had just mentioned the reciprocal relationship being imbalanced and one side of it being cut.

Canadian Heritage committee  Paré, you referred to 327 international tours that have been cancelled, or delayed, which represents almost 3,400 performances. You talk about losses of almost $20 million. That is enormous in the performing arts sector.

Canadian Heritage committee  Les Deux Mondes is both a research company and creative centre founded in 1973 and incorporated in 1975 as a non-profit organization. In its 36 years of existence, the company has presented 3,400 performances and created 25 shows. It has eight permanent employees and, each year, hires some 50 freelancers, including actors, technicians, and so on. The bulk of our independent income is generated by the sale of touring shows.

Veterans Affairs committee  Long-term care is an important element of the service we provide. We can provide it in any number of locations. We have about 3,300 to 3,400 departmental contract beds reserved for veterans. They are in institutions we used to own that we transferred to provinces. The disadvantage is that they are located in about 14 sites, and not all of Canada's veterans are located near those 14 sites.

The Budget  This universal child care benefit is particularly beneficial to this rural family that does not have access to day care. As a result of our budget, this hard-working family will have almost $3,400 back in their pockets. This $3,400 will buy clothing, groceries and books for their family. I can assure the House they will not be spending this money on beer and popcorn. They could even put this money toward their daughters' RESPs.

We also produce business aircraft and there are roughly 3,400 Bombardier business jets flying around the world. Bombardier is the largest manufacturer, by value, of business jets in the world. This is just to give you a little perspective on that side of the company.

Agriculture committee  That was raised with the Quebec model and the average investment that each producer made was only about $3,400. But with that modest amount of income, it was able to leverage significant moneys. So that, I think, is the argument for leverage. It's a long-term investment in the agricultural enterprise.

Transport committee  If we start by talking about people, in Transport Canada we have about 5,000 people, roughly speaking, and 3,400 of them are working in safety and security. Of those 3,400, about half are in Ottawa and the other half are separated into five regions in roughly 65 offices across the country. I can go deeper into details—
