Employment Insurance  Speaker, 40-year highs of “Justinflation” is where we are at. Payroll taxes have gone from $3,400 to $4,100 under the government, a $700 increase, and the planned EI premium hike is yet another increase on paycheques. When Canadians are struggling with paying their bills, the government's next move, on January 1, is to raise EI premiums on their paycheques.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, it is both. The total payroll tax of a $60,000-a-year earner went from $3,400 under the previous Conservative government to $4,168 today. The reality is that none of that was necessary and the Liberals want to use the money for anything but EI. On top of that, now they plan to triple the carbon tax, raising gas, heat and grocery costs and killing jobs for many people in many sectors.

The Economy  It is $948. That is an increase. Furthermore, if we look at total payroll taxes, they have gone from $3,400 to $4,100 under the government. That is a $700 increase, and the government plans to raise EI premiums, that is the paycheque tax, on January 1, along with other taxes. Why will the government not cancel these tax hikes so Canadians can pay their bills?

Committees of the House  In the air, we have a CP-140 Aurora long range patrol aircraft, and two CC-130 transport aircraft operating in the Euro-Atlantic area, and we look forward to resuming our enhanced air policing mission in Romania later this year. We also have 3,400 CAF members standing by for the NATO Response Force, should their support be required. Our support for global peace and stability does not stop at NATO's borders. Since February 2022, we have committed hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine, including anti-tank weapons, rockets, M777 howitzers, drone cameras, 155 millimetre ammunition, rifles, armoured utility vehicles, satellite imagery and communications equipment.

Official Languages committee  Yes indeed, and we are hiring unilingual francophones. We have almost 3,400 employees in Quebec. We have many employees in our operations department who operate in parts of the province that, as you suggest, speak only French, and we have many of these employees who speak only French.

The Economy  If they are lucky enough to buy a house for the $800,000 that it costs, with a 2% mortgage they are paying about $3,400 a month for mortgage payments. The potential of a 3% rate hike means $3,400 turns into $5,200. Why is the government drowning Canadian homeowners in the debt of tomorrow to pay for the pet projects of today?

Foreign Affairs committee  One of them is the deployment of the first stages of the NATO response force to which, as has correctly been said, we have offered 3,400 troops. We have also made available troops immediately to strengthen the enhanced forward presence battle group that we lead in Latvia. We have increased our support in terms of air policing, and we've increased our support in terms of naval presence.

The Budget  If a person recently bought a house at the average home price of $800,000, and was lucky to get in with a lower interest rate of about 2%, and paid 5% down, they would probably be paying about $3,400 a month for their mortgage. Let us say that it goes up even 3%, which does not sound like a lot. Let us say that the mortgage goes up 3% when it is time to renew it in a couple of years.

Business of Supply  These additional forces include ground troops for the Canada-led enhanced forward presence battle group in Latvia, and an additional frigate and patrol aircraft. As well, approximately 3,400 Canadian Armed Forces personnel across all branches of the service are authorized to deploy to the NATO response force, if they are required. On March 8, the Prime Minister announced that Canada would renew its commitment to Operation Reassurance—

Business of Supply  The fact that we are commencing our next rotation of NATO-enhanced air policing in Romania is important. The extension of our commitment is important, and 3,400 Canadian Armed Forces are on high readiness in case they need to go to Europe. That is important. I want to again thank those men and women of our armed forces for all of the incredible work they do.

Government Operations committee  In this particular program, of course, they've already sold 700 or 800 of these. They're producing 3,400 in total and about 2,400 A versions. They are very capable and very competent. With regard to the ship program, it's not so much that I'm concerned about Lockheed Martin. I'm concerned that Irving Shipbuilding, Lockheed Martin and BAE are able to sort of, without any budgetary constraints, take the taxpayer for a ride.

National Defence  Mr. Speaker, the government has committed 3,400 troops to augment NATO's eastern flank should Putin's war spread to an alliance member. NATO members have contingencies to safeguard troops in case Putin deploys nuclear or chemical weapons.

National Defence committee  Perhaps she could finish replying to the questions that we asked, the first one being the amount of money allocated to our 3,400 potential troops that would be deployed to Op Reassurance, should it become necessary. What amount is being set aside for CBRN personal protection equipment?

National Defence committee  Given the potential to be in a hot conflict zone involving CBRNs, how much is being allocated to ensure that our 3,400 troops committed to Operation Reassurance have, should it become necessary, the personal protection gear in place?

National Defence committee  We can save that for the next round, then. What amount is being allocated for the pre-deployment readiness exercises for these 3,400 committed troops?
