Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act, 2023  Mr. Speaker, I greatly appreciate the comments of my colleague opposite. Given the situation that Ukraine will be in if this war ends, and we do want it to end, I would like to know whether my colleague would support simply consolidating the agreements signed since 2017 to facilitate Ukraine's reconstruction.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague from Portneuf—Jacques‑Cartier. I have the pleasure of talking to him regularly in a relatively constructive way. I am wondering about the Conservative narrative. They are claiming to have a magic wand and, once they are in power, they will be able to snap their fingers and build housing and balance the budget without any austerity measures.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I will have to sing a song to calm things down in the House. I really appreciate all of the passion and conviction of my colleague opposite. I would like to come back to something essential. The Canada emergency business account, or CEBA, has repayment terms that force businesses to pay back the subsidies they got during the pandemic.

Affordable Housing and Groceries Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his presentation. Clearly, he is just as alarmed as we are about housing. In Quebec, we will need 1.1 million units of affordable social housing by 2030 and Quebec is at the top of the list for measuring the extent of the problem in Canada.

Department of Public Works and Government Services Act  Madam Speaker, the Bloc Québécois is obviously in favour of Bill S‑222. In fact, I feel like saying “finally”, even though the bill may not go far enough. The Bloc Québécois has long been committed to promoting the forestry sector and the ecological value of forestry products. We have long proposed that the federal government use its procurement policy to support the forestry sector.

Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I want to begin by thanking my colleague with whom I have the great pleasure of serving on the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans. He chairs that committee and we have spent a lot of time together trying to save our fisheries. I would like to ask him two questions.

Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for her passion. I am very worried. This is not the time to take overly polarized positions on any specific projects or initiatives in that regard, whether good or moderate, or whether they require further study. We absolutely must focus on the environment.

Online News Act  Madam Speaker, I appreciate everyone's questions. Earlier, I was in the lobby with a colleague. We were talking about how the process required to come up with a law that makes sense and that meets the requests of all regional media is long, cumbersome and sometimes tedious. I would like to point out something important.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I honestly had an issue with my phone, which is defective. I am waiting for a replacement one. I was unable to vote remotely. I would like to ask for unanimous consent to apply my vote.

Mange ton Saint‑Laurent!  Mr. Speaker, in Quebec, we do not wait for anyone. The Mange ton Saint‑Laurent! collective gets that. Made up of scientists, such as Mélanie Lemire and Yv Bonnier Viger, renowned chefs and mentors, such as Colombe St‑Pierre, and artists, filmmakers and entrepreneurs, the group hopes that Quebeckers will take ownership of the St.

Canada Business Corporations Act  Mr. Speaker, I commend my Conservative colleague. We sit on the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans together. We work very well together. It is a pleasure to work with him. He is thorough, skilled and always diligent. I want to take this opportunity to thank him for his work.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I enjoyed my colleague's speech. I am a person who favours consensus and I completely agree with her that we must encourage positivity. I endorse that way of thinking. I am just wondering about how long it took for my NDP colleagues to react to this appointment. We have been speaking out against it for weeks because it caught our attention right from the start, while they are only responding today.

Diane Dufresne  Mr. Speaker, Canada has just realized that long before the Madonnas and the Lady Gagas of this world shocked audiences with their extravagance and filled stadiums with their voices, there was the great Diane Dufresne. Yes, the great Diane Dufresne will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame tonight, after 60 brilliant years of magnificent music.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I will not list what is happening in Montreal. Although I applaud the efforts of our government, this obviously does not solve the problems, since killings are causing the dead to pile up. It is absolutely necessary to do things that I would describe as more focused and more draconian, and probably invest more in all kinds of areas.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his constructive question. We agreed on the principle of the bill and on the urgent need to pass a bill until we realized the shortcomings of the bill. Consultations were then held. It was in light of the consultations on the ground that we revised our priorities and adjusted the steps taken in committee so that the bill would best reflect what the representatives of each group had told us.
