Government Business No. 7—Proceedings on Bill C‑12  Madam Speaker, I have a gender question for the member. We know that women were limited in the work that they could do. There were only a few roles that were considered to be women's roles back in the thirties, the forties and the fifties. We know that wage gaps continue to be discriminatory.

Act Respecting Certain Measures Related to COVID-19  Mr. Speaker, what price would the member be immediately comfortable with so that parents across Canada could have the same peace of mind that the member enjoyed to make sure that their kids are healthy?

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I want to thank the member for bringing this back to the impact that this COVID-19 pandemic has had on people, and for changing the language to “protections”. I really appreciate that. However, I see in the motion before us today that there are no solutions for protections, and there is no talk of protections for people.

The Opioid Crisis in Canada  Mr. Chair, I thank the member for speaking of the compassion we need to show in this crisis. I agree with the member wholeheartedly on the need for increased health care transfers to provinces, and I just wanted to confirm tonight that I think we also agree on decriminalizing those small amounts for personal possession.

The Opioid Crisis in Canada  Mr. Chair, I just want to tell my neighbour, the member for Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge, that I know how deeply this affects his community, and I know how hard he and other elected officials in his community are working to make sure that people are housed and cared for in Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I want to thank the member for speaking about the importance of the jobs that the CPR brought to this community and to our country. My father-in-law, Rocco Zarrillo, came to Winnipeg in 1966 and worked in the north Winnipeg yards, which I think were called the Weston shops, for almost 30 years.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I want to say how much I really appreciate this debate in the House tonight. We are entering into a new era of awareness with regard to equity and history in Canada. I am seeing genocide, elitism and cronyism, and we have the opportunity to speak about that. I want to ask the member from the Bloc, in this spirit, about finances, because unfortunately the Liberal members want to speak specifically about finances when there are so many greater things to talk about.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank the member for a bit of history and stories. I always like to hear the stories and real-life experiences of members in the House and their constituents. I want to ask the member about the opportunity to activate other tax loopholes. Is the member aware of any other tax loopholes or havens that CP Rail could activate to avoid fair tax payment if this motion passes through the House and the Senate?

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I am not sure if the hon. member was here earlier to hear about my grandfather's farm in Asquith, but I spent many of my summers there driving from Saskatoon to the farm in my car as we were checking the herds. The construction of the rail line was important, I am sure, in those times.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, it is my honour to stand today as a person born in Saskatoon who spent many summers at my grandfather's farm in Asquith, Saskatchewan. I just want to give a shout-out to the Saskatchewan NDP members who have been fighting for this for years, and I thank all of the House for what looks like it could be a unanimous vote on this.

COVID-19 Protests  Madam Speaker, I want to thank the member for shining a light on the voices that have not yet been heard tonight. Do members know who else has not been heard? It is the nurses and health care workers the member just spoke of, who are working in hospitals tonight caring for people.

COVID-19 Protests  Madam Speaker, I want to speak to a point the member for Burnaby South brought up at the beginning of this debate, that is, the emergency rescue for the health care system, and want to ask the member about our health care system. Does the member agree that this starts with funding it properly?

COVID-19 Protests  Mr. Speaker, I just need to revisit an important comment of my colleague from Churchill—Keewatinook Aski. There is a sinister component to this illegal occupation that involves hate, foreign money and influence in our democracy. Will the government take this seriously and address with integrity the sinister and dangerous factors these past 11 days have exposed?

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of order. It has been a very long afternoon but a very important one. I just wonder if we could remind members to put their masks on. Some of us are immunocompromised and have family members who are immunocompromised, and we want to be able to continue with the debate.

Economic and Fiscal Update Implementation Act, 2021  Mr. Speaker, I am going to speak as a mother right now. There have been some disturbing comments in the House today blaming senior babysitters who have had to come to the rescue of frontline workers to get them to work. There were some comments earlier about people who are restricted in their freedom, and I just want to remind people in the House that in my riding, indigenous girls who go to school are not allowed a bus pass.
