Members Of Parliament Retiring Allowances Act  Bill C-85, which will amend the Members of Parliament Retiring Allowances Act, has been touted by the Prime Minister as a great pension reform package that members of Parliament deserve because they are so underpaid. If anything raises the ire of Canadians, it is the scandalously generous pension provisions given to members of Parliament. Even more disturbing is the attempt to conceal from the public just how rich the pension plan remains even after the proposed changes.

War Measures Act  This film was subsidized in part by the National Film Board, if I am not mistaken, and aroused the indignation and ire of some of my hon. colleagues in the Reform Party and in the Liberal Party in this House. What did my hon. colleagues say? I refer simply to the remarks of the Reform member for Calgary Southeast, who, in her criticism of the funding of Mr.

Points Of Order  During question period the member for Mission-Coquitlam, in making a comment with respect to the appointment of two senators, aroused my ire to some extent. I hope you will understand, Mr. Speaker, that we have had some experiences recently with the Reform Party commenting on the appointment of Acadians to various positions in government.

Supply  We can look our fellow Canadians in the eyes and say we have made the first sacrifice ourselves. We have done away with this outrageous pension plan that acts like a magnet for all the ire of everybody in the country. When they look at that and say: "How can these people who are elected to lead us write laws that protect them from the very mismanagement they have put on to our country in the first place?

Charitable And Non-Profit Organization Director Remuneration Disclosure Act  This bill is only the tip of the iceberg, a small but necessary step in reforming the way we handle Canada's non-profit sector. In the U.S., charitable and non-profit organizations must file returns with the IRS which are available for public inspection. Information must be filed by both charitable and non-profit organizations, unlike the Canadian policy which keeps the returns of non-profit organizations confidential.

Department Of Industry Act  Unlike the Reform Party, we feel it is also essential that the government be able to make loans and guarantee the repayment of any financial obligation or provide loan insurance ir credit insurance and make grants and contributions. The Premier of Quebec made it clear -he sent clear signals- when he said that the State must be an active player in the economy. It must not assume the role of a banker, but its certainly can guarantee repayment for SMEs, which are recognized as creating the most new jobs, to promote their development and help them face this free trade, global market, high-tech, competitive context.

Immigration Act  In case my colleagues on either side of this House think that voting for this motion would cost them votes or would raise the ire of a significant number of people, let me reassure members that it will not. Let me also assure members that voting against this measure would cost votes. Allow me to provide some evidence to back this up.

Agriculture  Political gamesmanship does not go over very well with the agricultural community. Saying one thing while doing another is guaranteed to raise their ire and raise their concerns as it should. It is a case of once bitten twice shy, and the supply managed industry is checking for bite marks as we speak. This time it needs to know the facts, not the wishful thinking, so it can start planning its future.

Supply  He is alleged to have decided that the estimate of 5 per cent evasion, twice that given by his predecessor, would strengthen with congress his case for more tax collectors. The IRS is now investigating its own internal auditors. Some academics noted that official positions on the issue now imply that Canadians are 10 times as honest as Americans in filing their income tax returns.

Pearson International Airport Agreements Act  I certainly appreciate the member's comments in opening up the matter quite clearly for all of us. I also hope this will peak the interest and raise the ire of Canadians across the country. The privatization of Pearson airport and this government's hasty reversal of the privatization decision smacks of a political soap opera with very real consequences for the people involved, for Torontonians and for all Canadians.
