Situation in Indigenous Communities  Mr. Speaker, I would like to make a comment first, then ask my colleague a question. I want to recognize another colleague on this side of the House who made a very compassionate speech this evening. The silence in the House this evening is deafening. It says to me one thing: we are here listening.

Public Service Labour Relations Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my seatmate on behalf of the residents of Canada for his years of service in the RCMP. I owe him a great deal of respect for serving this great country for that many years. I would ask the member to explain again why this vote should be done by secret ballot.

Canada Labour Code  Mr. Speaker, the member just spoke about the unions being all about the membership, and the rank and file. How can she defend taking away the right to a secret ballot as being respectful to that rank and file membership?

Employment Insurance  Mr. Speaker, I thank the member for her presentation this morning. It has been an interesting conversation today. There has been a lot of time and resources put into dealing with unemployment, apparently both on the government side and in the NDP caucus. There are two partners in the employment process, the employee and the employer, but I have seen very little from either of these caucuses on what they are doing for the other side.

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Madam Speaker, certainly every last member of our coalition forces is of high value. It is like a team. When we take a team into a championship game, we do not leave our best players locked out of the locker room. We make sure they are involved in the game.

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Madam Speaker, our fighter bombers in Iraq and Syria have been very precise with their strikes. There has been no collateral damage caused by our fighters and their bombs, and the pilots are well trained. We can be proud of the missions they have served. They have done well and we would like to see that continue.

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Madam Speaker, the mission to this point had been effective in cutting off the flow of money to the ISIS fighters. We all know that they were selling their oil or stolen oil on the black market. Our fighters and the coalition fighters were very effective in taking out those oil trucks, those supply depots, that were supplying the oil that was funding this process.

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Madam Speaker, I would like to open by expressing my gratitude and the gratitude of my constituents for the Canadian Armed Forces personnel who have served and continue to serve for the cause of peace and humanity in Operation IMPACT. We must never forget our men and women in uniform, our fellow Canadians, who stand at the ready to go to the heart of danger to confront the threats to our nation.

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Mr. Speaker, we do not argue with the members across the aisle that this needs to be a multi-pronged approach to defeat ISIS, the need for increased ground support and humanitarian work that has been planned, but it must be a fully supporting approach. Is the government admitting that it is making a financial decision, not a military decision, because the Liberals have overspent so much since coming to power last October that they can no longer afford to fully support our troops and the missions against ISIS?

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Mr. Speaker, I would like to reflect back on the comments from across the House this morning made by the parliamentary secretary who admitted there would be an increased risk for the troops on the ground and that simply increasing that number would multiply that effect. He seemed to show no regard for what that risk might lead to or the number of casualties that might cause.

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Mr. Speaker, last week when I was travelling from my home riding to Ottawa, I happened to listen to a radio interview of the mayor of Cold Lake in northern Alberta, where our fighter pilots are trained. It was interesting to hear his somewhat reserved comments that he was glad that the fighter pilots were returning home, and they are always happy to return home to their families.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship  Mr. Speaker, Canadians from across this nation continue to step up to assist refugees arriving here from Syria. I hope all members in the House share my appreciation for the many welcoming organizations that have sprung up across Canada to undertake this extraordinary task. This is true in my riding of North Okanagan-—Shuswap where multiple organizations have been planning and fundraising since October to pull together the necessary support systems to welcome these families.

Income Tax Act  Mr. Speaker, the member for Glengarry—Prescott—Russell earlier today spoke of the differences in home prices in different parts of the country. In some of those places it is very expensive and hard to get into the market. Since TFSAs are a very effective savings vehicle for people trying to build their savings and get a down payment so they can get into the market, especially in the high cost areas, areas where it might be difficult for young Canadians to get into the market, does it make sense to restrict one of the most effective savings methods ever introduced?
