Government Orders No. 35—Extension of Sitting Hours and Conduct of Extended Proceedings  Mr. Speaker, I wonder if my colleague would agree that the motion we are debating today is an admission of failure. In his speech, my colleague criticized all opposition members, insinuating that the opposition parties are to blame for the fact that we cannot seem to deal with the major problems that currently exist in Canada.

Parliament of Canada Act  Duly noted, Madam Speaker. What about your Hélène Monette Boulevard? My GPS is no use; recognition for poets, it would seem Is harder to find than organic and fair trade cocaine I call for poetry From Speak White to Speak What From Michèle Lalonde to Marco Micone By those who blaze the trails And those who draw tears from the page By Rodney Saint-Éloi and all our diasporas By Herménégilde Chiasson, Georgette Leblanc And all of Acadia straight in the eye Let the path of poetry stretch out From St-Venant-de-Paquette to Wendake Let an artist from Trois-Rivières climb Duplessis's statue To sculpt Godin's face up there I call for poetry In songs, on pages, in rap bars By Gilbert Langevin, Nicole Brossard, Sol or Manu Militari In its noblest forms or proudly bastardized By our inspired successors Apathy will never recover By its peaks and roots Its iridescent brothers and incandescent sisters Its promises that we will hold high With arms open wide I call for poetry I call for poetry Hoping that you will answer I have a minute and a half left, but I do not know what I could possibly add to David Goudreault's words, what he just said, what I just read.

Parliament of Canada Act  Madam Speaker, I am going to talk about something very serious, that is, poetry. I would like my colleagues to listen. It is not that often that we talk about poetry in the House. I am not sure we ever have. It is important that members listen. I apologize in advance, because David Goudreault is also an extraordinary performer.

Parliament of Canada Act  Madam Speaker, as my colleague mentioned, Bill S‑202 has to do with the appointment of the parliamentary visual artist. As I said earlier, I am a stage and film actor, as well as a fan of literature. I therefore agree that art should have a bigger place in our lives, even in Parliament.

Parliament of Canada Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his wonderful speech. This bill may not look like much, but appointing a visual artist is quite important. We already have a poet in the House. Obviously, as an actor, as an artist who has worked in television, theatre and film, I am going to applaud having more arts in this Parliament.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I would like to ask a question that I previously asked the former minister of housing, Mr. Hussen, during question period here in the House. It has to do with the Century Initiative, which, when it was launched, announced a goal of increasing Canada's population to 100 million by 2100.

Black History Month Celebrations in Longueuil  Mr. Speaker, as we kicked off our Black History Month celebrations on Friday, the community of Longueuil showed just how vibrant it is by immersing us in African and Caribbean culture in the middle of a Quebec winter. I have to say that it was quite the party. There was a tasting of bissap, the iconic drink of West Africa, which was prepared by Michèle Kaugbouh, a native of the Ivory Coast.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I cannot make any promises. As the member mentioned, there is also a technology factor involved. I have never had my car stolen, but I have had things stolen out of my car three times in the past two years in my riding. My key hangs two feet behind the door, and thieves hack the signal.

First Nations Clean Water Act  Madam Speaker, I am not sure if I can be brief. What an absurd situation. I have been listening to the debate since this morning, and I cannot get over it. First nations account for 5% of Canada's population. We are debating a bill that seeks to give 5% of the population of this country access to drinking water.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague, whom I like very much. Indeed, French is in jeopardy across Canada. It is rather sad to see how tough this has become. Maybe $4 billion will help, but I would like to throw a question back to my colleague. How is it that the government is going to invest $700 million over the next five years for anglophone communities in Quebec?

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague. I did not mention it in my speech, but I too, like many Quebeckers, was truly insulted by the Conservative leader's remarks. Together, Montreal and Quebec City make up roughly half of Quebec's population. The mayor of Montreal and the mayor of Quebec City are therefore two elected representatives of half of Quebec.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  Mr. Speaker, I would like to begin by saying that I will be sharing my time with my hon. colleague from Mirabel, whose remarks are always intelligent, relevant and even amusing, although I would not want to put any pressure on him for his 10-minute speech. I read Bill C‑59 and looked in vain for any substance.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  Mr. Speaker, many things struck me in my colleague's speech. He said that no government in 50 years had invested so much in housing. I do not know the statistics, but it is possible, even probable. I wonder if he is not a bit embarrassed by the lack of results they have been able to produce with all those investments.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  Madam Speaker, happy new year to you and to all of my colleagues. I hope we will be gracious in our debates in 2024, if such a thing is possible. I thank my colleague for his speech, in which he talked extensively about housing. I think that off-market housing is, in fact, one of the solutions.
