Small Business  Madam Speaker, let us be clear. Plan A: the business owner has the money, repays the CEBA and gets some loan forgiveness. Plan B: the business owner has the capacity to take out a loan, repays the CEBA and gets some loan forgiveness. Plan C: the business owner does not have the capacity to take out a loan, stays with us for another three years and has to pay the minimum, which is 5% interest, or $250 a month at most.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I wish to speak on a point of order. Last Thursday, in my answer to a question from our colleague from Calgary Confederation, I told this House, “2.45 million people used their tax returns to indicate they wanted to be donors.” I want to offer a clarification by explaining that it is indeed 2.45 million people who indicated their interest in becoming organ donors by requesting additional information, which they can now do through their tax return, as per Bill C-210, in participating provinces.

Health  Mr. Speaker, the member for Calgary Confederation has worked hard to help Canadians waiting for transplants. I was happy, along with members from all parties, to support his bill. It shows we can do great things when we work together. The impact of this change is significant, and I am pleased to say it has been very successful already.

Persons with Disabilities  Mr. Speaker, I want to reassure my colleagues. The Canada Revenue Agency does have a tax credit for caregivers. We are doing everything in our power to promote this tax credit and to ensure that people are well informed. We use tax clinics with our volunteers to promote this program and serve the people who need it most.

Families, Children and Social Development  Mr. Speaker, I am proud to announce that Yukon families can now apply for the Canada child benefit when registering for the birth of their newborn through the automated benefits application service of the Yukon Vital Statistics office. It is the quickest and easiest way to apply for and receive the benefit, which is more than $5,500 on average per year for Yukon families.

Small Business  Mr. Speaker, I do not think that scaring our SMEs is a good idea. We were there for them with the Canada emergency business account, wage subsidies and rent supports. The federal government provided $8 out of every $10 of relief during COVID‑19. We are there for SMEs, and we are making the transition.

International Development  Mr. Speaker, the Canada Revenue Agency shares it expertise and knowledge with many developing countries in different ways. We support the Tax Inspectors Without Borders initiative by making our experienced tax examiners available. We welcome technical missions, such as those from Ghana and Ivory Coast that will come visit us at the end of the year, and we participate in two forums by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Small Business  Mr. Speaker, the Canada emergency business account was offered during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was an interest-free loan for a term of two years or more, depending on the date, a portion of which can be partially forgivable as long as repayment is made in a timely manner. The loan can also be extended without the need for immediate repayment at the start of next year, and can be extended again until 2026.

Small Business  Mr. Speaker, we set up the Canada emergency business account to help businesses and organizations during the pandemic. We extended the forgivable deadline by one year, postponing it from 2022 to 2023. We postponed it by a few more weeks to give businesses time to make adjustments and continue to benefit from this forgivable portion.

Small Business  Mr. Speaker, I would like to remind my colleague that our government was there to help people and businesses during COVID‑19. Nine out of every 10 aid program dollars came from the federal government. We have already granted one extension and provided clarification to ensure that businesses subsequently made sound decisions.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, the tax-free first home savings account is a perfect example of how we are working to help our young people become homeowners. It is a way for them to save money on their tax return and invest more in their down payment for their first home.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, we have had a national housing strategy for years and are investing billions of dollars in it. We are working with the Government of Quebec and we have different types of programs in all the categories, including affordable housing, the GST exemption on rental housing construction and the FHSA, which offers young people an opportunity to invest and save in a tax-free account for the eventual purchase of their first property.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, Quebec is not subject to the price on pollution for the simple reason that it has had its own carbon exchange for 10 years. My colleague does not understand that climate change is having an impact on our businesses. If we abolished the price on pollution, as the Conservatives would like to do, that would put Quebec and British Columbia businesses at a disadvantage compared to the rest of the country.
