Criminal Code  I agree with him that some of these bills could have been passed really quickly, like the zombie provisions of the Criminal Code. Scholars and professors have been calling for decades for the Criminal Code to be cleaned up, and we could have passed that bill very quickly, but we are only dealing with it now.

Industry committee  If the government would only do its job on the notice and notice regulations, that might be a good start. Number seven, we need to repeal the blank media levy scheme. We need to get rid of the zombie-like levy scheme in part VIII of the Copyright Act and stop listening to the big three multinational record companies who conjure new kinds of taxes on digital devices, ISPs, Internet users, the cloud and whatever else looks lucrative.

Veterans Affairs committee  The stigma of being soft for seeking treatment, along with being given by physicians what many veterans refer to as the “zombie cocktail”, and being stubborn about treatment, can create a never-ending vicious cycle of distress between patient and clinician. The fact that PTSD is also comorbid itself with different types of addiction is often a valid reason for physicians to be reluctant to prescribe drugs outside of the recommended guidelines, such as cannabis.

Justice committee  Thank you, Mr. Chair. Professor Coughlan, I appreciate your submission with respect to zombie laws. You mentioned the case of Travis Vader, who murdered Lyle and Marie McCann, an elderly couple from my home community of St. Albert. Following Justice Thomas's decision and under the leadership of our chair, this committee wrote a letter to the Minister of Justice calling on the government to introduce legislation to repeal “zombie” sections of the Criminal Code.

Finance committee  Famously, I think the case was of an 86-year-old grandmother in Manitoba who was passed on a notice for the supposed illegal downloading of a zombie apocalypse murder game, which she had no recollections of downloading. The notice indicated that she could make the infringement go away for the low price of “insert number here”. This provision will return the notice and notice regime back to its consumer information intent, by banning settlement demands and the request for personal information in the notice regime.

Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association  The next date was last night, October 30, devil's night, when the true plot of our feminist Prime Minister came to pass. He marched in his zombies on devil's night to vote against a female member of Parliament who has served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Even the cabinet was there for that shameful episode. The member for Etobicoke Centre, who has spent millions of dollars fighting for integrity in elections, stormed the stage to run a sham meeting that has no application.

Industry committee  In the past when carp came into Canada, it had to be tested to make sure it was dead. They have so-called zombie-like characteristics. When it was packed in ice, it could live up to 24 hours. To make a long story short, the Conservatives stole and implemented my bill, which was great because the regulation was that the carp have to be eviscerated so we don't have to have people check to make sure they are alive.

The Environment  Here in Ottawa, though, the Liberals bought Trans Mountain with taxpayers' money, and the Conservatives want to bring energy east back to life, like a zombie. This Liberal-Conservative pipeline coalition is quite the cabal. It feels like we are in a bad B movie. The only thing missing is a “sharknado”. Do the Liberals realize that they are spineless and that they are putting our children's future at risk?

Transport committee  I think some concerns have probably been overblown, that yesterday the whole world would turn into zombies or something. We haven't seen any impact at the border yet.

The Environment  The energy east pipeline project is supposed to be dead and buried, but apparently they want to bring it back to life, like a zombie. Surprise, surprise—the Liberals are open to it. Welcome to the Liberal-Conservative pipeline coalition. Luckily, the Quebec New Democrats are here to defend the Quebec consensus and protect our environment.

Justice committee  I will be able to relate with my 15- and 17-year-old, and maybe even my 11-year-old nieces and nephews, after having talked about zombies and Frankenstein in Ottawa today. Thank you all very much.

Justice committee  A few years earlier, it's my understanding that there was a case in British Columbia involving murder, in which the trial judge left a copy of a zombie section of the Criminal Code with the jury in the trial, and it was appealed to the British Columbia Court of Appeal. The murder conviction was not overturned. It was upheld only on the basis of the trial judge's impeccable instructions to the jury.

Justice committee  Thank you to all the witnesses for your passion and your advocacy. Professor Coughlan, I am very much looking forward to getting rid of the zombie provisions, including section 159 and others that you have mentioned. Thank you for your very lucid testimony on the subject. Calla, I want to put on the record that this committee will be looking at an HIV over-criminalization study later this fall, as early as December, and no later than early 2019.

Industry committee  I've participated on the the University of Guelph station CFRU, on Open Sources, a local political commentary that's been going for about 15 years now. I'm just about to go on Zombie Jamboree. They've asked me to bring a Canadian playlist with me and discuss Canadian music. There's a lot of volunteer activity. You mentioned in your presentation maintaining paragraph 68.1(1)(b).
