Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. I agree with several things she said, including the part about spending. We have indeed reached the point where we must carefully consider every expense, and that bears repeating. Some kinds of spending can be more productive than others.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, I would like to ask my colleague a question. I heard him reply to our Conservative colleague that this was not the time to talk about partisanship. I would like government members to stop using this circular argument—as one of my distinguished colleagues recently put it—and answer my question directly.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, that is a very good question. I thank my colleague from the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food. It kind of feels like a committee meeting here this afternoon. There are people here who know what they are talking about, and that is great. Predictability is essential for businesses.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his great question, which will allow me to speak about several things. We agree on free trade. The Bloc Québécois has always been in favour of trade, but it must be done in an intelligent manner. Canada exports pork and will continue to do so.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his multi-faceted question. First of all, I did not say “$270 million”, I said “$252 million”. My colleague raises a very important point. Indeed, not only is it a rather small amount, but some of it is recycled money. Second, I do not believe we have ever opposed compensation for dairy farmers; quite the contrary.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, as agriculture and agri-food critic, I will obviously be talking about agriculture, as my colleague from Montcalm stated earlier. Quebeckers and Canadians care deeply about agriculture and agri-food. Last year, we saw the importance of food sovereignty, food autonomy.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, I congratulate my colleague for his speech. I am very pleased to sit with him on the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food. I know that he is just as worried about these issues as I am. He ended his speech by insisting on the importance of food self-sufficiency and local production, which has been highlighted by the pandemic.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, I commend my colleague for her speech. I am a little dismayed to see the government members playing a kind of partisan politics. They claim that the opposition's comments are always partisan, yet this government shut down the House for five weeks and then forced us to pass legislation at breakneck speed.

Proceedings on the bill entitled An Act relating to economic recovery in response to COVID-19  Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate my colleague on his speech. I am going to repeat the question I asked the previous member, because I did not get an answer. In the speech, I can clearly see the intention to work to improve conditions, and so on. Yesterday, we voted on a Bloc Québécois motion calling for respect for the jurisdictions of the provinces and Quebec, which is what the new Conservative Party leader claims to want to do.

Proceedings on the bill entitled An Act relating to economic recovery in response to COVID-19  Madam Speaker, I congratulate my colleague on his speech. I picked up on his desire to explain to the government members that we are here to work constructively and that we want time to study bills. That is the reason we are here. Yesterday evening, we voted on a Bloc Québécois motion calling for collaboration with the intent of helping everyone, a motion that was in keeping with the hon. opposition leader's statements.

Government Business No. 1  Madam Speaker, I have a little trouble believing what I am hearing. It seems that our friends in government are avoiding the question raised a few minutes ago. It is September 28, the clock is ticking, and we must act before September 30. This summer, the House was prorogued. The main reason for the prorogation was to put a lid on the WE scandal.

Points of Order  Mr. Speaker, this is a very straightforward point of order regarding the statement I made earlier, which was not quite done. I had three or four words left to say. The microphones were muted, and my team told me that the minute was not up, so I would like to start over if I may.
