Child Care  This is fantastic news for families in New Brunswick who are going to see a 50% reduction in fees within the first year and getting to $10 a day by year five. We are going to increase the number of spaces by 3,400. Unlike the members opposite, we know child care is good for families, it is good for kids and it—

Business of Supply  Recognizing the value and benefits of the co-investment fund, the government allocated $750 million of existing funding in this program in the 2021 budget to accelerate the creation of 3,400 new units and the repair of 13,700 units over the next two years. Another $250 million will be reallocated to support construction, repair and operating costs for more than 500 transitional housing units and shelters for women and children fleeing violence.

Business of Supply  TBS officials told us it was for rapid testing purchases and distribution. The Treasury Board website shows there are 3,400 unvaccinated employees seeking accommodation. That works out to about $24,000 per employee for rapid testing. How does the government justify this?

Questions on the Order Paper  As stated above, over 200 new direct jobs have been created to date. M-KOPA also contracts a commission-based salesforce, which grew from 3,400 agents in 2018 to 5,000 agents at the end of 2020, which represents an additional 1,600 agents. In response to (e), no review was conducted by the government. To date, FinDev Canada’s investment in M-KOPA has been successful in creating jobs and market development, empowering women through quality jobs and access to products and services that enhance their well-being, and helping mitigate the effects of climate change by avoiding CO2 emissions through increased access to clean energy.

Business of Supply  Of the $1.3 billion of previously announced funding that has been reallocated, $750 million under the national housing co-investment fund will accelerate the creation of 3,400 units and the repair of 13,700 units. Some $250 million under this program will support the construction, repair and operating costs of an estimated 560 units of transitional housing and shelter spaces for women and children fleeing violence.

Petitions  Speaker, I am tabling a petition on behalf of constituents in my riding of Kelowna—Lake Country. To summarize, they reference Canada averaging 145 fatalities and 3,400 hospitalizations every year due to all-terrain vehicle rollover accidents. The use of crush protection device installations on these vehicles would reduce the number and severity of these accidents significantly.

Transport committee  Five years in, we are 40% of the way through this 12-year plan, and we have delivered over 40% of the funding available. The investing in Canada infrastructure program includes over $180 billion in investments; 3,400 projects have been approved so far, including more than 2,000 projects just this past fiscal year during the pandemic. Let me thank my officials and my team who, like you, are working from home.

International Trade committee  I know Ballard has gone through ups and downs. It was the most valuable company 21 years back. Still, you are the supplier of 3,400 trucks and buses. It's good, but it is still not there. I still hear the same thing as before: It is just a couple of years away from major transformation. Anyway, with my limited time, I have questions for Mr.

Veterans Affairs committee  As the director of Canada and the Americas area of the CWGC, my remit is to carry out the commission's charter within North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. It includes more than 20,000 war graves in over 3,400 burial grounds in 32 countries. The majority of these casualties are buried and commemorated in Canada. The work of the commission [Technical difficulty—Editor] cemeteries and memorials are truly Commonwealth.

Finance committee  We're seeing a lot of large consolidations of small brokerages that are selling to large corporations, as I mentioned in my comments, either backed by private equity firms or by insurance carriers or whatnot. We're already seeing it. We have a large number of brokers—3,400 brokerages in Canada—that primarily have fewer than 15 employees, and they have to make a choice to sell to a large corporation with deep pockets or to pass it along to their family that is working alongside them in the business.

Finance committee  We are here today to provide our support for Bill C-208 on behalf of IBAC's 11 member associations and 38,000 insurance brokers. Our member associations represent approximately 3,400 brokerage firms located in every riding across the country. Many committee members will know an insurance broker in their community, and have likely met with them during our annual Hill Day.

Fisheries committee  As we have already seen in fish processing, critical labour shortages may soon be common on the harvesting side. Third, indigenous employment in the fishery grew from 1,400 individuals in 2001 to 3,400 in 2016, an increase of 142%. Indigenous harvesters made up 13% of the total fishing labour force in Nova Scotia in 2016, and 18% in New Brunswick. Those figures will have increased since then.

Industry committee  Through CFDCs and Business Development Centres, or BDCs, in Quebec, we have provided more than 3,400 businesses with liquidity and technical support, thereby protecting 15,000 jobs. Some 600 of those are in northern Quebec, including in the Abitibi—Témiscamingue region. I have no doubt that information will be of particular interest to my fellow member Mr.
