Cancer Mr. Speaker, although April was Daffodil Month for the Canadian Cancer Society, cancer is not limited to one month. We do not forget cancer or our loved ones, like my late husband, Arnold, or those who are living with it. One in two Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer, which is why the 2019 budget commitment on cancer research and treatment is so important.

Fraud Against Seniors Mr. Speaker, we are all deeply concerned with the well-being and financial security of seniors. Older Canadians have made and continue to make such valuable contributions to our communities, workplaces and our families. Seniors have been a priority for the Government of Canada and they remain a priority with good reason.

Lunar New Year Mr. Speaker, today is the first day of the spring festival, or the lunar new year. In my riding of Scarborough—Agincourt, we celebrate lunar new year with many diverse communities. Lunar new year is more than just a celebration for Asian communities. It is now celebrated widely across Canada.

Armenia Mr. Speaker, I have just come back from a successful visit to Armenia, which included the Sommet de la Francophonie and bilateral discussions. There was a moving ceremony at the Armenian Genocide Memorial. I want to thank the Prime Minister for announcing the Arnold Chan Initiative for Democracy in Armenia.

National Seniors Day Mr. Speaker, this past weekend, I attended many events honouring seniors and recognizing their volunteer efforts in my riding. Today is National Seniors Day and an opportunity to pay tribute to the seniors who built our country, contribute to our society and continue to mentor us.

Armenia Independence Day Mr. Speaker, today is Armenia Independence Day. Over the course of their history, the people of Armenia have had to fight for a country to call their own. In 1918, they were able to establish the first Republic of Armenia. However, in 1920, the Soviet Union invaded and took control.

Today is the Prime Minister's science fair, which highlights both our outstanding students and science centres across Canada. I am extremely excited to see all of the amazing projects that the students have brought for us today.

Armenia Mr. Speaker, the first Republic of Armenia was established 100 years ago. Its emergence on May 28, 1918, provided hope to thousands of refugees and a home to the Armenian people in the wake of the Armenian genocide. For the first time since 1375, the Armenian people could lay claim to a country of their own.

Support for Cancer Victims Mr. Speaker, today is National Daffodil Day. The daffodil is the symbol of strength and courage in the fight against cancer. I wear this pin in memory of my late husband Arnold, and for all the people living with cancer and wanting to conquer this disease. Over the course of their lives, one in two Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer.

Science and Technology Mr. Speaker, the Minister of Science was recently in Toronto to meet with leading artificial intelligence researchers to talk about Canadian Al leadership. We can harness that work to provide benefits for Canadians. In the last year, we have seen internationally leading companies investing in new Al research labs in cities across Canada, including Toronto, Montreal, and Edmonton.
