Sylvain Cléroux Greenhouses  Mr. Speaker, on February 19, a massive blaze destroyed the greenhouses of Serres Sylvain Cléroux, a company in the riding of Laval—les Îles that is one of Quebec's largest flower producers. Thanks to our first responders' heroic efforts, over one million square feet of spring seedlings were saved.

National Defence  Madam Speaker, February 12 was International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers. It is a day to remember that we must protect children from the risk of participating in the horrors of armed conflict. Can the Minister of National Defence update the House on the progress our government is making on Roméo Dallaire's initiative to prevent the use of child soldiers and our re-engagement with the United Nations?

Pierre De Bané  Mr. Speaker, Pierre De Bané, a good friend of mine and a former parliamentarian, passed away on January 9, 2019. I would like to honour his memory by expressing how grateful I am for all of the help and good advice he gave me. Mr. De Bané was the first Lebanese Canadian to sit in the House of Commons and the Senate, where he served for 45 years.

Armenia  Mr. Speaker, 30 years ago, on December 7, 1988, a magnitude 7 earthquake nearly wiped out the town of Spitak in Armenia and caused significant damage to 300 other communities. That earthquake caused nearly 25,000 deaths, and left tens of thousands of people injured and more than 500,000 people homeless.

La Francophonie  Mr. Speaker, Franco-Ontarians and other francophones from across Canada will not be discouraged by the cuts announced by the Ontario government. Despite these cuts, francophones in Ontario and across the country will not be afraid to defend their rights in court if they have to.

Budget Implementation Act, 2018, No. 2  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. This bill will implement key measures from our 2018 budget, including measures aimed at reducing poverty, improving equality and fighting tax evasion. Can my colleague tell us how much money pollution pricing will put back in Canadians' pockets?

International Trade  Mr. Speaker, we know that small and medium-sized businesses contribute to our economy by exporting their products. During the NAFTA negotiations, we consulted with and listened to SMEs. One thing they asked us to do was to reduce red tape at the border to help Canadian companies boost their exports.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. Last year, $4.4 billion was spent on veterans and their families, which is $1 billion more than the Conservative government's peak spending. Our plan for veterans goes much further than that of the NDP. How can my colleague explain the NPD's change in vision?

Official Languages  Mr. Speaker, the Right Hon. Jean Chrétien was on Radio-Canada recently expressing his concerns about the erosion of the French language in Canada and Ottawa. Some of my Quebec friends share those concerns. I would like to reassure all francophones in Canada. Every day I see this language thriving as it enjoys first-rate protections within our institutions.

Canada Labour Code  Mr. Speaker, my colleague's speech was excellent, eloquent and provided details. Could the member possibly explain to the House how this bill will help women to be able to work in a safe, secure, free and comfortable environment, free from all kinds of harassment, including sexual harassment, physical harassment and any issue related to harassment, and whether a zero tolerance will be applied?

National Defence Act  Madam Speaker, could the hon. member explain to this House how Bill C-77 would improve victims rights in general?

Justice  Mr. Speaker, could my colleague, if possible, elaborate on how the government with this bill and its previous efforts will improve the life of our Canadian children, particularly by lifting hundreds of thousands of them out of poverty and ensuring them a better life and future?

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. He once told a former employee of Stephen Harper's that he was uncomfortable with the idea of a politician deciding the fate of a particular offender. Would he mind explaining that to Canadians? I am looking for specifics here.

National Seniors Day  Mr. Speaker, October 1 is National Seniors Day in Canada. According to the United Nations, today's seniors were the driving force behind the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. That is why Canada, the UN and the entire global community want to celebrate these human rights champions.

Tornados in Gatineau and Ottawa  Mr. Speaker, I was shaken by the terrifying tornado that hit Gatineau and Ottawa last Friday. It tore apart thousands of buildings, and hundreds of people have been affected by the damage. No community, anywhere in the country, is immune from extreme weather events these days, and I do not think there is any doubt that changes to our planet's climate are responsible.
