Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, our farmers are the first to be affected by climate change. They are heavily involved in the fight against climate change and in reducing emissions. Our programs for helping them apply best practices and learn new technologies, and for investing in research and inovation, are oversubscribed.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, my colleague should know just how much our government is doing to help farmers. Right now, we are enhancing and improving the advance payments program, which enables farmers to get interest-free loans of up to $350,000. We also enhanced the program for good agricultural practices on the farm.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, I do not know if my colleague heard, but last week, I announced a new call for proposals for the local food infrastructure fund. We are providing $10 million to help our food banks, community gardens, community greenhouses, youth centres, seniors' programs and more.

Agriculture and Agri‑Food  Mr. Speaker, we must recognize all the work that our farmers do. They work extremely hard and know that they bear the pressure for feeding us in these challenging times. We want to help them in different ways. In the recent budget, we increased the interest-free portion of the advance payments program.

Agriculture and Agri‑Food  Mr. Speaker, like my colleague, I saw the results of the poll and the various studies. It is very concerning to see that we might lose so many of our agricultural producers. That is why we are working in collaboration with the Government of Quebec on various options. We have just signed the $3.5‑billion sustainable Canadian agricultural partnership.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, I thank my hon. colleague from Pontiac. It is my pleasure to inform all our colleagues that budget 2023 includes a $10-million enhancement to the local food infrastructure fund. This program was created as part of Canada's first official food policy and is designed to strengthen our local food systems and support the creation of more food banks, community gardens and collective kitchens.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, there is a lot of good news in budget 2023 for our farmers, starting with the vaccine bank for foot and mouth disease. This was a request made by the various meat sectors in Canada and it was very important to them. In addition, the advance payments program has been increased, which means we can offer interest-free loans up to $350,000.

When the Conservatives were in power, they cut funding for science and risk management programs.

I am very pleased to say that we are currently finalizing the agreements for the sustainable Canadian agricultural partnership. This $3.5-billion program will help our farmers improve production and quality, reduce their carbon footprint and be more productive.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, again, it is true that things are tough for Canadians right now. Things are tough for our farmers, who have had to deal with a lot of unpredictability because of weather and so forth, but also because of input costs. That said, we are here to support them in a variety of ways.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, once again, our government is there to support our farmers. We have been the most generous government in helping them make this transition to an ever more sustainable agriculture. We know that our farmers are doing everything they can to ensure the future of their farms so they can pass them on to their children.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, on the contrary, our government has given farmers more support than any other government. When the Conservatives were in power, they made cuts to risk management programs and slashed investment in research and innovation. We need research and innovation to be able to improve yields and reduce emissions, while also increasing production.

Points of Order  Mr. Speaker, I will retract my comments, no problem. I invite my colleague to share the entire quote, because I have a quote that is different from the one he has shared in the House. I would love to compare notes with him.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, I think my colleague is sharing disinformation; this is totally false. They are twisting the facts of a certain study. They are not giving the full information. It is misinformed, and it is increasing the anxiety of farmers. I think it is totally irresponsible.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, that is complete disinformation. It is irresponsible to increase the anxiety of farmers when they are the first ones to be impacted by climate change—
