Citizenship and Immigration committee  We are located on the shores of Lake Huron, northwest of London and west of Kitchener-Waterloo. Huron County has a population of just under 60,000 that's spread out over 3,400 square kilometres, and our largest population hub is about 8,000 people. We are a region in Ontario that has the lowest unemployment rate. We're sitting at about 3%, and the entire area is experiencing a severe workforce shortage.

National Defence committee  I've created two new programs in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, and the intake this year will be 340. To go from 2,800 indigenous people to about 3,400 to meet those targets, we need to recruit approximately 200 indigenous folks a year. Last year we recruited 162, so with my throughput, I'm very confident we'll get there.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  Infrastructure is really the key to bringing down the upfront capital costs of mining in the north. If we use Agnico Eagle as a case study, it has a 3,400-kilometre security-of-energy supply chain. Ships leave Becancour, Quebec, and sail around Newfoundland to Hudson Bay. The mine built a floating port, a tank farm, and 200 kilometres of road just to be able to then actually build the mine site.

Agriculture committee  In February, we provided grain producers an average of 3,400 cars during the worst part of the winter. We were able to increase that to 4,500 cars three weeks ago, and to 5,000 cars two weeks ago. We clearly indicated that the capacity of the network and of the supply chain was about 4,000 cars per week in the worst winter conditions.

Public Accounts committee  Why was there such a big drop from 3,400 employees to 43 employees? How can the safety of the operations still be sufficient?

Public Accounts committee  I'm reading in this report that the salary has been aligned with the previous salary of the CEO and president in a corporation that had 3,400 employees. Without really having any insight into the compensation framework, because that had not been disclosed in the corporation's annual report, I'm left with a lot of questions.

Public Accounts committee  I suspect that was a guiding principle in terms of the restructuring process that was undertaken at AECL because ultimately, we want to increase efficiency and effectiveness while at the same time being able to save money. The corporation went from 3,400 employees to 40. When those 40 positions were filled, were those positions posted so that existing staff could apply for them and fill those positions under the new restructured corporation or were existing employees transitioned into those 40 roles based on, as I would suspect, management and the board or was it some combination of those two methods?

Public Accounts committee  Perfect. Of course, this transformation was important. Your organization went from 3,400 employees to about 40. All of the operations are now managed through a comprehensive important. I'd like you to tell me about the monitoring mechanisms especially, which allow you to make sure that the enterprise, alliance or group that was chosen conducts these operations well.

Infrastructure  Mr. Speaker, Canadians across the country are enjoying the benefits of the more than 3,400 projects approved under Infrastructure Canada's phase 1 programs. The previous government spent a decade doing nothing, but now these projects are modernizing public transit and water pipes and building healthier communities.

Official Languages committee  I would also like to recognize that we are in Treaty No. 6 territory, as well in Métis Nation of Alberta territory. We are one of the province's four French-language school boards; close to 3,400 students attend our 19 schools. The development of French-language schools is the logical result of the development of structures and programs for early childhood. This period in a child's life is not only critical to their development, it also represents a key interval for them to learn and retain the French language.

Information & Ethics committee  We need to know how the transition will be handled. How will we manage those two systems? Today, our inventory has more than 3,400 complaints. If the bill becomes law in January or February, those 3,400 complaints will have to be processed under the new system. The last thing we want is to have an inventory under the new provisions.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I regret that my colleague neglected to mention the role played by the air force, because 3,400 sorties were conducted. The CC-150 tanker aircraft flew 850 sorties, the CP-140 Aurora patrol plane went on 875 missions, the Hercules aircraft conducted 260 sorties, and 60 members of the 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron flew 1,378 sorties.

Justice committee  I think the number you may have been thinking about is the number for what we call SFSTs, standard field sobriety tests. We're so used to acronyms in the federal government. We currently have approximately 3,400 SFSTs, and you heard the number who are in the RCMP, which represents about 15% of front-line officers, and we will grow that number to about 50% by year five.

Justice committee  Building law enforcement capacity across the country to address impaired driving will be met by an increasing number of officers trained in standardized field sobriety tests, or SFSTs, and also drug recognition experts, or DREs, as we call them. There are approximately 3,400 SFST-trained officers in Canada, which is about 15% of front-line officers. These officers perform a set of divided-attention tests at roadside, which provide evidence that a driver is impaired.
