Women and Gender Equality  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my colleague for her advocacy and hard work on women's issues. Canada's recovery from the pandemic depends on ensuring that Canadian women are working and safe. The $100-million feminist response and recovery fund will support local, regional and national efforts to end violence against women and girls, improve their economic security and increase their participation in decision-making roles.

Regional Development  Madam Speaker, we understand the importance of rural economy. I too live in a rural riding, and we understand that as we reach the post-pandemic, we do need rural. I can say that our government does believe in rural economies. That is why we announced a universal broadband fund, with a rapid response stream to connect Canadians.

Women and Gender Equality  Madam Speaker, I agree wholeheartedly with the member opposite, and I was so delighted to be in discussions with the federal, provincial and territorial ministers, when education was such a vital part of that conversation, and it is how everything has to start. We know that GBV is a pervasive problem, but we are working quickly and actively to end it in all its forms, and we all have to do this together.

Women and Gender Equality  Madam Speaker, I want to thank the member for Fredericton for her hard work and advocacy on this important subject. Since 2015, our government has been working to prevent gender-based violence, to address the root causes, and support long-term solutions. We have worked with women's movements and organizations on the ground who have been doing this work for decades, even when the government before us left them underfunded and undermined for 10 years.

Keith Rumbolt  Mr. Speaker, when we head east, nestled on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, we will find Newfoundland and Labrador, where we locals lovingly refer to Labrador as the “big land”. The big land is known for many things and many people, but on February 7, the big land lost one of its finest, Keith Rumbolt.
