Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, today we celebrate our agricultural producers and the wonderful food they produce in an increasingly sustainable way. I want to take this opportunity to update people on our latest initiatives and investments. Yesterday, we invested an additional $150 million in the protein supercluster, and this morning I announced nearly $20 million for two initiatives to support our businesses in their search for workers.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, today is Canada's Agriculture Day, and I am very proud of everything we have done for our farmers over the years. We have provided the most funding to this sector to support farmers, with a focus on investments in green technology. We have provided nearly half a billion dollars for green technology alone.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, I would like to remind my colleague from Quebec that the price on pollution is not applied in the same way in Quebec. It is administered by Quebec. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind all of our farmers that we have improved the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada advance payments program, which provides short-term loans of up to $1 million.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, as usual, the Conservatives are twisting the information, misquoting the research and talking about a typical farm of 5,000 or 6,000 acres, which is a—

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, he does not want to hear about everything we do for farmers. We are investing $1.5 billion in environmental farming. Yesterday we announced $150 million to support the supercluster on protein. We are working with farmers for farmers.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, I would first like to thank my colleague from Kings—Hants for his continuous dedication to agriculture. We recognize that the recent weather events impacted the grape growers of Nova Scotia and have caused them significant stress. I want to ensure them that we stand ready to assess the disaster as soon as the province submits a request for AgriRecovery.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, our government is committed to reducing food waste because of its impacts on the environment, on social causes, and also on our economy. A few days ago, I announced the six finalists for the novel technologies stream. They will each receive up to $450,000 to develop their technologies that will extend the shelf life of perishable foods, transform food waste into new products or value-added products, and more.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Madam Speaker, we do care for farmers. I work very closely with farmers across the country, and we are the government that has invested the most in history in the agriculture and agri-food sector. We just signed the sustainable Canadian agricultural partnership, and we have increased, by 25%, the cost-shared contribution to support our farmers.

Questions on the Order Paper  Mr. Speaker, in response to part (a) of the question, the amount of credit available to FCC customers is not impacted by the government’s plan to reduce emissions from fertilizer application. With regard to parts (b), (c), (d) and (e) of the question, FCC has no analysis to inform a response.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to announce that just a few hours ago the Prime Minister announced the creation of an Indo-Pacific office for agriculture and agri-food. That is excellent news for our agricultural producers and our exporters of excellent Canadian food, as we know. The team will be able to help them remove trade barriers, diversify markets, increase exports, grow our economy and obviously continue to contribute to global food security.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to inform the House that we have fully compensated every supply-managed sector. Dairy farmers will share an additional $1.2 billion, or roughly $106,000 for an average farm of 80 cows. A new innovation program is being implemented with $300 million for surpluses in non-fat dairy solids.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, an agreement could not be reached under the provisions of Standing Orders 78(1) or 78(2) with respect to the second reading stage of Bill C‑9, an act to amend the Judges Act. Under the provisions of Standing Order 78(3), I give notice that a minister of the Crown will propose at the next sitting a motion to allot a specific number of days or hours for the consideration and disposal of proceedings at the said stage.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, the biggest threat to our food security is definitely the climate crisis and droughts. When we face droughts or floods, as we did last summer, we have a lot of trouble with food production. That is why are partnering with farmers. We are providing them with financial incentives so they can adopt good practices, reduce emissions and be more resilient in the face of the climate crisis.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, I want to assure members that we are there to support our farmers. Last year, we had the biggest budget in the history of the agriculture department. It was more than $4 billion. Recently, we have invested $1.5 billion in agri-environmental programming because our farmers know that the biggest threat to their production is climate change.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, I am here, and we are here, to support farmers day and night, all year long. We are investing in our farmers. We are investing in the agriculture sector. I will talk about the clean technology program, as one example, because we know that farmers need equipment, and they need new technologies to be more energy efficient to be able to do precision agriculture to fight against climate change, which is the real threat to food security.
