Health committee  We are a non-profit society with over 11,000 registered patients. We have a subsidized wellness centre. Last year alone we provided 3,400 holistic treatments like massage, counselling, clinical herbalism, and nutritional counselling for little or no cost to our membership. We are a front-line harm reduction organization.

Citizenship and Immigration committee  Notwithstanding that, all of your 3,400 members.... Is it 34,000? We were told 3,400 at the last meeting. Anyway, around 4,000 members are entitled to appear before the IRB. At this point the competency is an individual assessment.

Transport committee  Good afternoon, Madam Chair and honourable members of the committee. On behalf of the Air Canada Pilots Association and our 3,400 pilots who fly passengers and cargo on Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge aircraft, I thank you for the opportunity to share with the committee our expertise in aviation safety. I'm an Air Canada captain who has flown in Canada and around the world.

Role of Co-operatives  Agropur's success is reflected not only in its economic impact, with an impressive $5.9 billion in sales, but also in the well-being of the people it serves, including nearly 3,400 dairy farmer members and their 8,000 employees. While these co-operatives operate in different sectors, they all share the same common principles, including voluntary and open membership, democratic member control, economic and democratic participation by co-op members, autonomy and independence, education, co-operation among co-operatives, and sustainable community development.

Oil and Gas Industry  Here is what the oil sands mean for Canada: $4 trillion for the economy, $490 billion in transfer payments, and 905,000 direct, indirect, and induced jobs over the next 20 years. Every one job in the oil sands creates 2.5 jobs across Canada. More than 3,400 businesses, 145 in the Maritimes, over 300 each in Quebec and B.C., and over 1,500 in Ontario. The Prime Minister suggest the oil sands pit the environment against the economy, but he is wrong, and the world-class technology that unlocked the oil sands will drive future energy technologies.

Natural Resources committee  Moving now to the situation at Chalk River around the pension, you said there were 3,400 employees there. I just wanted to get clarification. How many of those employees are yours? Are all those employees affected by this pension situation? If there's a defined pension in the contract agreement that kicks in if they can't make an agreement, I almost wonder what kind of bargaining position you have.

Natural Resources committee  We're very open to new ideas, we're just very concerned about this model. Our first concern with this new approach is the fate of the roughly 3,400 employees. Under the GOCO agreement with all employees, all employees will no longer be able to participate currently in the public service pension plan, the PSPP, which they belong to now, and they will no longer be considered government employees, although the facility remains owned by the Government of Canada.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 2  Speaker, the Conservative government cut taxes over 160 times to reach the lowest level in 50 years and allowed the average family to save $3,400 per year, and we still balanced the budget. What damage has the current government done to our families regarding taxes?

Government Operations committee  Thank you. I'll talk a little bit about the community itself. There are 3,400 people on the band registry, of which, I would say, a thousand live on reserve and two-thirds are off reserve and sort of scattered throughout the region. We get only once-a-week mail service, so that's four times a month that we get mail brought in, usually through a contractor air service.

Finance committee  I have just a couple of really quick questions. For the northern adult basic education program which has helped over 3,400 northerners, what's the language breakdown of that in terms of official languages? Is it mainly English or is there any francophone participation in that as well?

Finance committee  Through our northern adult basic education program, delivered with the three northern colleges, CanNor has invested in improving the literacy, numeracy, and other essential workplace skills of indigenous adults. To date, this program has helped over 3,400 northerners gain important skills needed to participate more fully in the labour market. CanNor also delivers regional components of national programs, such as the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

Income Tax Act  There were 42,000 unemployed in the province of Saskatchewan during August. That is an increase of 3,400 from the month before, and 5,200 more than the number of unemployed in August of 2015. EI recipients jumped 19% alone in the month of June. Doug Elliott, who is the publisher of Sask Trends Monitor, said that people were unable to find work and simply stopped looking entirely.

Finance committee  If there are 80,000 formal notices of objection a year filed by Canadians because there is a dispute between what the taxpayer thinks is right and what the CRA asserts is right, and if there are only 3,400 cases in the courts, settlements happen routinely and daily.

May 3rd, 2016Committee meeting

Gregory Wiebe

Finance committee  I think there are something like 80,000 notices of objection filed each and every year by taxpayers who dispute what the CRA has suggested is the right answer, from a tax perspective. I think, in total, there's something like only 3,400 Tax Court cases in progress right now. They can take many years, and very few of them are criminal in nature.

Industry committee  Through leveraging, every dollar paid out by CED generated an average additional investment of $2.88 by promoters and other financial partners. More than 3,400 of the businesses we supported received funding for marketing and export projects. Again in 2014-15, 32% of the approved assistance was provided for businesses targeting communities with low growth potential.
