Circuit du paysan  Mr. Speaker, I rise today to bring attention to a real success story in my region: 25 years of the Circuit du paysan. The Circuit du paysan is a key tourist attraction in the region. It links up various attractions, sites, local producers, artisans and artists. It helps sustain vibrant local businesses.

Immigration and Refugee Act  Madam Speaker, my hon. colleague's suggestion is very interesting. In this case, these individuals have been identified as the perpetrators of certain reprehensible acts that are contrary to our laws. As for a general policy of some kind, I think this is more of an economic policy issue.

Immigration and Refugee Act  Madam Speaker, I certainly respect the work of my hon. colleague in this area as well. What I like about this bill is that it comes out of a study that was done in the foreign affairs committee in 2017. We know that things happened between 2017 and now, but it was a very comprehensive way to bring forth this kind of legislation.

Immigration and Refugee Act  Madam Speaker, it is important in Bill S-8 that we have the ability to have coordination among the different legislative pieces that are there to ensure that undesirables are not able to stay in Canada. Once in a while there will be a need to proceed on a case-by-case basis, and I think that in that regard, ministerial oversight would still be required.

Immigration and Refugee Act  Madam Speaker, it is an honour to speak at third reading of Bill S-8, an act to amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, to make consequential amendments to other acts and to amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. I am very interested in this subject because, early on in my career, when I was a student and a community worker, I worked with refugees a lot and I also worked in human rights.

Club FADOQ de Saint-Rémi  Mr. Speaker, it is a pleasure and an honour today to mark the 50th anniversary of the Club FADOQ de Saint‑Rémi. I would like to take this opportunity to give a shout-out to its president, Jacques Lavigueur, and all the members of the current board of directors. I am blown away when I think about all the dedicated volunteers who have led this organization over the years to make it into the success we celebrate today.

Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I am always very interested in what my colleague has to say, especially when it is about seniors' pensions. I have two questions. First of all, I am wondering whether she is familiar with the D'Amours report that was released by the Quebec government about 10 years ago.

Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1  Madam Speaker, in listening to my colleague's speech, I take it that he has a very different position on a number of different issues, but I am going to guess that he is for helping people, especially tradespeople and workers who are trying to improve their situation in this current economy.

Canada Early Learning and Child Care Act  Madam Speaker, I listened to my colleague's speech with great interest. I think sharing stories about our own experiences, particularly those of us who have been single mothers, is very valuable. Comparing her situation with mine, I was a single mom in Quebec, where I had access to quality low-cost day care.

Canada Early Learning and Child Care Act  Mr. Speaker, I am very interested in my colleague's comments around affordability, because while I am no longer in the business of child care, as a Quebec resident, I certainly benefited 25 to 30 years ago from the child care that we had available at that time. That was on a needs basis only, but it permitted me to go back to school, earn an MBA and become a citizen earning a higher income to more than repay and contribute back to the system that helped me in that way.

Canadian Heritage  Mr. Speaker, Quebec's cultural sector is in mourning. Yesterday, actor Michel Côté passed away. For decades, Quebeckers enjoyed and admired his immense talent. He left his mark on several generations and achieved the rare feat of captivating audiences not only in the theatre, but also on television and the big screen.

Firearms  Mr. Speaker, the people in my riding of Châteauguay—Lacolle are concerned. Gun violence is a scourge that continues to raise concerns for people. Firearms are used in far too many violent crimes. They make our communities less safe. I know that, like me, the Minister of Canadian Heritage shares these concerns.

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, the minister mentioned the fact that we are working in partnership with other levels of government. I would like him to tell us more about the agreements. I think that, over the years, there have been many negotiations and many agreements with the Government of Quebec.
