I want to thank them and all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians for doing their part to control the spread of COVID-19 in our province. As my colleague has said, the light is at the end of the tunnel.

Women and Gender Equality  Mr. Speaker, I agree with my colleague 100%. There should be no violence against women in Canada. Everybody deserves to be safe. Telecommunications  Mr. Speaker, I live in a rural area and I understand that Internet access is not a luxury; it is essential. In the last seven months, many more people are working from home. They are accessing goods and services online. The kids are doing their classes from the kitchen table. More than ever, it is important that all Canadians have access to the Internet.

Tourism Industry  Madam Speaker, COVID-19 impacted every industry. However, it really hit the tourism travel industries and the hospitality economy hard. Many operations did not open this season, some destinations adjusted to the new normal and were successful, other groups and clusters worked together and discovered a new way forward just to survive.

We heard very clearly the impact that COVID-19 has had on women from coast to coast to coast: indigenous women, women of colour, women in the new work force and women in the old work force.
