Special Committee on Indigenous Women committee  Thank you. I mentioned that our board initially thought that any resources required or devoted to such an undertaking could really be better spent on an emergency basis in Inuit communities. They felt that if they had a choice, that would be their preference. More than 70% of women don't have a shelter, and women die as a direct result.

Special Committee on Indigenous Women committee  We participate at many levels. We work with the provinces and territories on a subcommittee of the aboriginal affairs working group. We participated last November in the National Aboriginal Women's Summit III and collaboratively developed a number of recommendations. One in particular is that there must be the capacity for representative organizations to participate as equals.
