Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1  I wonder if they recognize that there is no such thing as government money. It is the money of hard-working Canadians. It is important to live within our means or we will go further into debt. Will the member not recognize that massive deficits and debt are fuelling inflation and making life more expensive for all Canadians?

The Economy  By every objective measure, the Liberals' war on work is making life more expensive, with inflation and higher taxes resulting in expensive gas, heat and groceries, which leaves hard-working Canadians with less in their pockets every month. With budget 2023, the Liberal government doubled down on these failed policies, adding over $40 billion to the national debt. Next year, Canadians will spend over $43 billion in interest payments alone.

Committees of the House  What Conservatives are blocking is this Liberal-NDP government piling another 4,200 dollars' worth of debt on to the struggling backs of hard-working Canadians. That is what we will continue to block. We have two simple asks. The Liberal-NDP government needs to lower the deficit and lower the inflation. We see nine out of 10 young people blocked out of home ownership, and we see mortgages and rents going up.

Committees of the House  The second scam is going to cost every single Canadian household on average $537. That is more than $2,000 on the backs of hard-working Canadian families. I talk to newcomers to this country all the time, and they have the same complaint. They ask us, “Why did we leave the country we came here from? We came to Canada looking for a better future.

Carbon Pricing  It is a tax plan; it is not an environment plan. The only thing the carbon tax does is punish hard-working Canadians. Will the Liberals quit double doubling down on the triple carbon tax and axe the tax?

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, it is a pleasure to join in the debate on our opposition motion today, calling for the scrapping of the first carbon tax and scrapping the second carbon tax as well to put more money back into the pockets of hard-working Canadians. I want to talk about the current state of affairs in our country. I got a disturbing text from someone I have known for a long time about how he sees what is happening in our country right now.

Business of Supply  That is exactly what we are experiencing in Canada with this Prime Minister. The Prime Minister’s good ideas are very costly for all hard-working Canadians. Instead of adopting responsible fiscal behaviour that will reduce the cost of living, the Liberal government has passed an inflationary budget that increases the cost of everything for all Canadians.

Business of Supply  As of June 2023, single workers will receive up to $714 and families will receive up to $1,231 in three advance payments. The Canada workers benefit is something that is lifting millions of hard-working Canadians out of poverty, making that difference at the end of every month and the end of every year. These advance payments are just another way of ensuring that Canadians receive the help they need at the most opportune time.

Government Operations committee  We will continue working with our partners to advance Canada's national shipbuilding strategy, which supports the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard, while at the same time revitalizing Canada's shipbuilding industry. In addition to that, our national shipbuilding strategy is creating jobs for hard-working Canadians and has contributed approximately $1.93 billion annually to Canada's gross domestic product between 2012 and 2022. At the beginning of April, we were proud to sign a groundbreaking agreement between our government and Chantier Davie to introduce the Quebec shipyard as the third strategic partner under the NSS.

Natural Resources committee  Continued support in this area will allow us to carry on our efforts to make our homes more resistant to the effects of climate change. And as global inflation continues to affect hard-working Canadians, these renovations will make their home heating bills more predictable and affordable. I would also like to touch on our two-billion trees program in the estimates, which achieved 97% of its first-year target in terms of planting, and through which, in just the past six months, we have signed seven agreements in principle with seven provinces and territories.

Finance  Weeks before that budget, the minister said that deficit spending fuels inflation and interest rate hikes; then she added $60 billion of that fuel to the inflationary fire, at a cost of $4,200 per family. Why will the minister not get off the backs of hard-working Canadians and get rid of the inflationary taxes and deficits that they have to pay?

Carbon Pricing  He is afraid to defend not only his first carbon tax, which he admits will increase the price of gas by 41¢ a litre, at thousands of dollars of net costs per family, but he now has carbon tax 2, a second tax with no rebate, that will increase food, heat and gas prices even further. How much will the second carbon tax increase the cost of gas for hard-working Canadians?

Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada  The contrast between this out-of-touch Prime Minister and our Conservative leader could not be more clear. Our leader is here on the road in this country, meeting with hard-working Canadians, hearing their stories and actually showing up for work here in Ottawa. Canadians are out of money, and the Prime Minister is out of touch, but soon—
