Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada  For example, the leader of the NDP spent his 2011 election campaign advocating for a $20 billion job-killing carbon tax. He said he has a cap and trade program that will produce billions. Most recently, the leader of the NDP introduced another $56 billion in reckless spending. Hard-working Canadians simply cannot afford the risky socialist tax-and-spend policies of the NDP.

Rob AndersConservative

New Democratic Party of Canada  The NDP's 2011 election platform planned to raise over $20 billion from its carbon tax scheme. The NDP leader said that this “will produce billions”. While the NDP leader is working on a plan to raise billions of dollars of revenue from Canadians with his job-killing carbon tax, our government will remain focused on what matters to Canadians: jobs, growth and long-term prosperity.

New Democratic Party of Canada  In fact, this very day last year the Leader of the Opposition even said himself, “I have proposed a system of carbon pricing, which will produce billions”. On this side of the House, we will continue to work hard for Canadians and oppose the New Democrats' shameful, $20 billion, job-killing carbon tax.

Wladyslaw LizonConservative

New Democratic Party of Canada  During the NDP leadership campaign, the current NDP leader said he had proposed a system of carbon pricing that “will produce billions”. This sneaky $20 billion job-killing carbon tax will increase the price of absolutely everything. Studies show that the negative effects of the NDP's carbon tax would be most keenly felt by low-income Canadians and those living in rural regions.

Conservative Party of Canada  In fact, the Leader of the Opposition even said that of course he has a cap-and-trade program that “will produce billions”. Our government will continue to fight this job-killing, $20 billion carbon tax, stand up for Canada and make sure that we make all Canadian citizens proud of what we do as a government.

New Democratic Party of Canada  In fact, that is the entire purpose of the NDP plan and not some idea that has altruistic environmental goals. His leader said that he had proposed a system of carbon pricing that will produce billions. The NDP's job-killing carbon tax is simply bad for Canada. Our Conservative government will continue to stand up against this reckless and irresponsible job-killing policy.

Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada  Last March he also clearly stated that of course he had a cap-and-trade program that would produce billions. Canadians can count on our government to lower taxes so they can keep more of their hard-earned dollars in their pockets. We will continue to oppose the NDP leader's $21 billion carbon tax scheme.

Costas MenegakisConservative

New Democratic Party of Canada  In fact, the NDP leader has been clear on his plans to impose this massive job-killing carbon tax. Only last year he said he was proposing a system of carbon pricing that “will produce billions”. This NDP job-killing carbon tax would raise the price of everything for Canadian families, including gas, groceries and electricity. My constituents do not want this new scheme that will take money from their pockets and put their jobs at risk.

Business of Supply  This sector produces over 600,000 jobs across the country, not only in my great home province of Alberta but in every province. It produces billions of dollars of government revenue for the very social programs that we hope to support and see sustained well into the future. Moreover, there is a focus in Canada, across industry, in government and at the provincial level as well, to ensure these resources are developed in the most environmentally responsible way possible.

Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada  Speaker, it has been months, and the NDP leader has not yet explained what he meant when he said of course he had a cap-and-trade program that would produce billions, or what his party meant by the $21 billion in revenue from carbon cited on page 4 of the NDP's platform. My constituents and many Canadians are wondering what the NDP leader is trying to hide.

Health committee  As I said, drugs are useful to the health and wealth of our nation. A drug like Lipitor in its heyday was producing billions of dollars per year and it would be bloody nice to have a Lipitor that came out of Canada. What are the factors that contribute to our drug discovery deficit in Canada? First of all, we don't really have any multinational drug companies in Canada, and we don't have any drug companies doing industrial-based research in our country, so this certainly is a liability to enabling us to convert research to product.

New Democratic Party of Canada  On page 4 of its election platform, the NDP clearly laid out its new tax, which would raise the price of everything and raise billions in new revenues from Canadians. Earlier this year, the NDP leader said that his new carbon tax plan “will produce billions”. As we travel throughout our ridings to various events this weekend, and in my riding of Don Valley West I will be listening to my local constituents' concerns over the NDP leader's $20 billion carbon tax plan.

New Democratic Party of Canada  The NDP leader mentioned his plan multiple times during his leadership campaign. He promised that if elected he would propose a system of carbon pricing that would produce billions. Now he wants to hide from it. However, last week the Broadbent Institute, already funded illegally by the NDP, backed up his plan. The New Democrats are clear: Canadians must pay higher taxes.

New Democratic Party of Canada  Then last February he further boasted about the plan, saying that “The cap-and-trade system that I propose...will produce billions”. Our government will never allow the NDP to bring in $21 billion of new revenues from a carbon tax.

The Environment  The New Democrats' platform shows in black and white on page four that they expect they will bring in $21 billion in revenues because of this tax. The NDP leader has even clearly stated, “I have a cap-and-trade program that will produce billions”. Why will the NDP not admit that they want to raise the price on everything through their sneaky carbon tax scheme? In sadness, more than in anger, I call on the NDP leader to step forward today and admit that the New Democrats would impose a carbon tax that would cost Canadians $21 billion.
