Judy Graves, who's a city housing advocate, referred to a study, and I wish I could remember the details of it, of people who had moved from the street into housing. In a year's time, the number of people exhibiting mental illness dropped considerably.

Human Resources committee  My positive note of the idea of social inclusion is that people have access to resources and the opportunity to participate, no matter who they are or what barriers or struggles they have. So in our community, that has especially meant people struggling with drug addiction and homelessness, that they are included in our business ventures and in our decision-making as a neighbourhood.

Human Resources committee  Yes, I appreciate that. One of the concerns for us of the privatization of religion in our country is that the social vision for our country, a vision for justice, a right of arrangements and opportunities for everyone, is not talked about as much. And I think one of the roles the federal government can have is to bring that social vision to life.

Human Resources committee  Thank you. I'm from the Salsbury Community Society. It's an organization that grew out of the Grandview Calvary Baptist faith community in east Vancouver. I want to tell you a story about Jeff. Jeff is a man who struggled with depression and drug addiction most of his adult life.
