Status of Women committee Good morning. Ullakut. Thank you for your invitation. I don't speak much French. I would like to bring greetings and best wishes from Rebecca Kudloo, who's our president. She lives in Baker Lake, Nunavut, and is not able to be here today. She very much appreciates this oppor

Justice committee Thank you. I appreciate the question. The point I wanted to add earlier is that at the present time Pauktuutit does not have a working relationship with Justice Canada or with Public Safety Canada, and we were not able to consult. Pauktuutit is one organization, but it does h

Special Committee on Indigenous Women committee I can speak specifically about an economic development project that we just completed. We worked with AANDC primarily—and Status of Women did want to partner with us because they thought it was very important. We wanted to develop a model that could be used in other regions. Wha

Special Committee on Indigenous Women committee No, it wouldn't stop such a process. Shelters are a critical need, but they're not even a band-aid on the solution. They're a way to save lives, hopefully, but they're far from the response that's required. With regard to shelters, the federal government does provide some fundi

Special Committee on Indigenous Women committee I don't want to sound like a broken record, but with a clearly defined and sufficiently broad scope, mandate, and inclusion of Inuit women, yes. Thank you.

Special Committee on Indigenous Women committee If I may, I'd like to follow up more specifically on child sexual abuse. Each of the four Arctic regions has now completed an Inuit health survey, which included household questions and also experiences of childhood sexual abuse. In the one in Nunavik, we know that 44% of respo
