Veterans Affairs committee  We use that as an opportunity. A lot of what happens is in our classrooms, especially with a student in the younger grades who might feel that sense of trepidation. We do a lot of inquiry-based learning, so teachers are trained to take the lead if a student is feeling like that.

Veterans Affairs committee  No. We feel that our students have an excellent opportunity to learn and prepare for assemblies for Remembrance Day. We invite veterans to speak to them about what Remembrance Day means to them and why, and our students learn a great deal from the experience.

Veterans Affairs committee  No, I don't believe we've looked at No Stone Left Alone. We do work with Canadian Heritage. They supply newspaper articles, bookmarks, posters, and a whole bunch of material that we distribute to students in our schools.

Veterans Affairs committee  In schools we normally celebrate with liturgies and by inviting veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces either on the Friday or the Monday.

Veterans Affairs committee  No, we don't believe so because usually they do school assemblies. The kids are very involved in the planning and preparation of the event, so it continues to be a learning opportunity for our students all the way through.

Veterans Affairs committee  We certainly do. Our teachers can provide feedback in that regard, but we certainly do hear about children visiting cenotaphs and participating in Remembrance Day ceremonies with their parents, especially when grandparents and great-grandparents have fought and served.
