Industry committee  I would disagree. I would think that we are incredibly competent across the country. We have experts at all of our universities and, in many ways and in many aspects, Canadian scientists lead. I think what we're seeing here is that ability to bring everyone together and to integrate all of that knowledge in a way that's really focused on the task at hand.

Industry committee  This is exactly what we are proposing with Canada's Global Nexus, to bring together not just academics but industry, public health and government organizations to do exactly that so that we are working and leveraging all of the knowledge and infrastructure in a really systematic and collaborative way.

My name is Dr. Karen Mossman, and I am the vice-president for research at McMaster University.

Industry committee  At McMaster, our researchers pivoted quickly to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic with most of the research coming from the newly launched Canada's Global Nexus for Pandemics and Biological Threats. This includes working on the development of home test kits, leading a national trial for plasma transfusion, and leading a trial on anti-coronavirus therapies.
