Colleagues, thank you very much. I appreciate the honour.

I will dispense with opening comments until we have our first formal meeting when we're moving forward.

I hesitate to start off my first meeting with an apology. I was on a very important conference call and I couldn't get away as quickly as I wished. I thank you for your indulgence and your courtesy to be able to put up with me at this particular point. Obviously, I'm very hopeful that we'll have a very productive and engaged committee. I'd like to offer my congratulations.

I understand that both the NDP and we on this side have motions to put forward. I'd like to propose that those motions be discussed next week, on Tuesday, with other routine proceedings.

Therefore, I do move that we now adjourn this meeting.

A motion for adjournment is non-debatable.

I'll call for a vote on the matter.

(Motion agreed to: yeas 7 nays 5)

This meeting is adjourned to the call of the chair.
