Employment  That is because the government and this Prime Minister and this Minister of Finance understand budgets and finance, unlike the opposition, which thinks with pixie dust and well wishes the budget will balance itself.

Ethics  He is prepared to enter into a tax-and-spend coalition led by a Liberal leader who thinks that the budget simply balances itself. We will make sure that never happens and that Canadians can have a good, competent government for a very long time.

Infrastructure  Mr. Speaker, what is out of touch is the Liberal leader, who thinks that a budget will balance itself. His statement betrays his lack of understanding of the economy and his disconnection from the realities of the Canadian middle class. The reality is that this government, coming out of the recession, has the best growth, the best employment record, the best record on taxes and on debt of any major G7 country, and we are determined to continue to do that.

Taxation  I am not surprised with a party whose leader believes in not worrying about the budget, saying that the budget will balance itself. He is the last one this country needs to listen to when it comes to taxes.

The Economy  It has, by far, the lowest debt among the major developed economies. That is our record, year after year after year. Crazy statements about “the budget will balance itself” come from the Liberal Party year after year after year.
