National Defence  Speaker, of course the government has released the costs of the mission exactly as it said it would, an additional $122 million in incremental costs to this point in time. That is very clear. I do not know how much clearer it could be. The reality is that the New Democrats will hate even a cent spent on the Canadian military. However, I can assure the House that, for this mission, we are ensuring not only that our personnel are well paid but that they are well equipped and have the ordnance necessary to do their job.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, let us be clear. The vast majority of Canadian families cannot rely on a personal trust fund. The reality is that they rely on the creation of jobs, which this government has been supporting, and every single Canadian family that is benefiting from our tax reductions and benefits welcomes those changes.

Employment  Speaker, it is quite the opposite. Although Statistics Canada's methods and numbers change from time to time, the trend is clear. The Canadian economy has created almost 1.2 million jobs since the depths of the recession. This is not the time to increase personal and corporate income taxes. This is not the time to run up large debts and deficits.

National Defence  Speaker, the member, the Liberal Party and its leader have taken a very unwise position against the mission against ISIL, a crucial mission for our allies and for the security of our nation. The mission is clear: our soldiers and troops are there to advise and assist the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi forces. If our soldiers are fired upon, they are going to respond. That is what our troops did, and we are very proud of them.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, the government has been very clear. Obviously, the drop in oil prices affects the government's fiscal flexibility, but I have said repeatedly that the government will balance the budget this year. I note that the Parliamentary Budget Officer himself said today that even looking at his own numbers the government will be capable of balancing the budget this year.

Canadian Military Mission in Iraq  But again to be clear, while ISIL will not be eliminated, the risks presented from the territory in which it operates will be significantly reduced to those of other similar ungoverned spaces in the broader region.

The Environment  Canada would be there with them. However, we will not impose unilateral penalties. Let me be very clear on the difference with this side of the House. Our commitment to Canadians is that we will reduce greenhouse gas emissions while preserving, protecting, and growing Canadian jobs. That is our commitment.

The Environment  In the electricity sector, we have been ahead of and gone much further than the United States. I have been very clear in terms of regulating the oil and gas sector. It is something we would like to do but that we must do on an integrated basis in a continental economy. Frankly, under the current circumstances of the oil and gas sector, it would be crazy economic policy to do unilateral penalties on that sector.

The Environment  For the first time in history, we have reduced greenhouse gas emissions during a period of economic growth. Specifically to the issue of oil and gas regulations, this government's position has been clear that we want to see oil and gas regulations on a continental basis, given the integrated nature of this industry. With the current conditions in the oil and gas sector, this government will not consider unilateral regulation of that sector.

Health Care Transfers  Mr. Speaker, our government's record is clear. It is quite different from that of the previous Liberal government, supported by the NDP, which cut transfers to the provincial health care systems. On the contrary, we have increased these transfers every year, and they will continue to increase in the future.

National Defence  That is why President Obama and the international community have responded. We have been clear on that. It is the Liberal Party's position that is unclear.

Ethics  Speaker, the fact is that the member in question has not been a member of the Conservative caucus for some time. Our position in these kinds of matters in the past has been absolutely clear. When there is this kind of case, we expect the member will be suspended without pay. I know you, Mr. Speaker, are going to rule later, and that is our position. Other matters will be referred to the committee.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, the government's choice is clear. We have one of the best job creation records of all developed countries. We are working with the entire Canadian economic community, including Canadian families, to create jobs. We have a very different philosophy on this side.

National Defence  Speaker, the government, as the Minister of International Development said yesterday, has been one of the leading donors to the humanitarian crisis in this region, and we will continue to be so. However, let us be very clear. There can be no solution to the refugee crisis if we simply let ISIL go on and create millions more refugees in this region. That is part of the reason why this mission is so necessary.

Foreign Affairs  Speaker, as members know, the government has announced a series of humanitarian measures and humanitarian funding, including by the Minister of Foreign Affairs yesterday on the issue of sexual violence. Our position on this side is very clear. We do not think the fact that we are undertaking a military mission in any way precludes the humanitarian response. In fact, what refugees want is a country in which they can actually live.
