moved for leave to introduce Bill C-407, an act to amend the Income Tax Act (disability tax credit).
Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my seconder, the very distinguished member for Brandon—Souris, for helping me with this.It is a very simple bill. It proposes to change the Income Tax Act to require the government to have a doctor overrule a doctor's report. Currently a disabled person applying for a disability tax credit is required to have a doctor's report. Revenue Canada should be held to the same standard. Only a doctor should ever be able to overrule another doctor's report. That is not the case now.
