An Act to amend the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada Act

This enactment amends the statute governing the corporation known as the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada Act, so that it may continue to call regular and special meetings under that Act despite certain provisions of the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act.

S-213, An Act respecting Lincoln Alexander Day—Chapter 30.

C-13, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, the Canada Evidence Act, the Competition Act and the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Act—Chapter 31.

C-8, An Act to amend the Copyright Act and the Trade-marks Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts—Chapter 32.

S-1001, An Act to amend the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada Act.

It is my duty pursuant to Standing Order 38 to inform the House that the questions to be raised tonight at the time of adjournment are as follows: the hon. member for Algoma—Manitoulin—Kapuskasing, Aboriginal Affairs; the hon. member for Ottawa—Vanier, Consumer Protection.

Mr. Speaker, there have been consultations, and I believe that you will find unanimous consent for the following motion.

I move:

That, not withstanding any Standing Order or usual practice of the House, Bill S-1001, an Act to amend the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada Act, be deemed to have been read a second time and referred to a Committee of the Whole, deemed considered in Committee of the Whole, deemed reported without amendment, deemed concurred in at report stage and deemed read the third time and passed.
