Madam Speaker, I rise on a point of order. We are approaching 30 hours of voting around the clock. Although it says Wednesday here, it is actually Friday in the real world.

On behalf of the official opposition, I especially want to give thanks to the security personnel, pages, table officers, administrative staff, food services, bus drivers, translators, technical staff and everyone else who has worked so hard behind the scenes. I thank them for all they have done. We have an important job and it is important work. We thank them for everything they have done to help us engage in the most democratic process we have here, which is voting on behalf of our constituents, something we have done with enthusiasm and consistency for a number of hours.

I want to take this opportunity to do something I did 29.5 hours ago. I ask for unanimous consent for the following motion: That the House take note of the comments made by the member for Vancouver Granville, that she indicated she had not been able to fully explain the events that led to her resignation, and that the House call on the Prime Minister to waive full solicitor-client privilege and all cabinet confidences to allow the member for Vancouver Granville to address the events that occurred following January 14, including her time as the former minister of veterans affairs, her resignation from that position and her presentation to cabinet that followed.

I am sure, after 30 hours of the cover-up, those members will want to vote for that now.

Madam Speaker, I would like to echo the words of my colleague from Chilliwack—Hope and thank everybody who has been involved in this marathon session. The support staff do an extraordinary job, as do the table officers and pages. Therefore, on behalf of the NDP, we would like to thank everyone who was involved in doing all this work and supporting us.

I love the enthusiasm of my B.C. colleague from Cariboo—Prince George, but the reality is that he did not hear the question and should not have voted. This has been a bone of contention all day, and I have to be consistent. We should all be consistent. He did not hear the question, so his vote should not be counted. I am sure he will stand and address that in just a moment.

I thank you, Madam Speaker, and the other Speakers for your work in keeping us on a relatively straight path as we have gone through the last 30 hours.

Does the hon. member for Cariboo—Prince George wish to make a comment on this?

Madam Speaker, I just arrived back from an event. There were 250 first responders, veterans and military members there. I delivered the non-partisan message that we all stood together as leaders in the fight against post-traumatic stress disorder. I rushed back here to take part in the votes, because I know all members have participated in this for 30 hours.

I also want to thank the pages, security guards and everyone involved for doing this.

I stand by my motion and my thoughts that we should let the former attorney general speak.

The hon. member was supposed to be speaking about the fact that he stood to vote, but I know he also sat down and I would say that I am not sure if his vote was counted. However, I am sure the clerks will ensure if it did that it will be removed from the list.

The hon. government House whip has a point of order.

Madam Speaker, I want to add to the comments on behalf of the Liberal caucus to say an enormous thanks to the House officers, to the pages, to the technicians, to the bus drivers, to the interpreters, to security staff, to the Speaker's staff and indeed to the staff of all members of Parliament, who each and every day serve every single one of us so admirably. They do enormous justice to our institutions, bring dignity to the work that we do and it is an honour to serve alongside of them.

Before I read anything else and since we are on the subject, on behalf of all of the Speakers, I also want to thank all of the pages, all of the clerks, the supervisors, the security, the bus drivers, the people who kept us fed here and those who are cleaning up after us. I hope that all members will clean around their desks to ensure they have not left anything there.

I know that everyone wants to go home, so I will get to this next motion.
